I'm not sure if it's tied to finishing the guard percentages. But at 100%, while in the Buster Sword stance, all damage is reduced to 0. Even attacks from hard mode Minerva.

I saw a comment on GameFAQs about sword proficiency that said the best mission is the kill 50 enemies that opens up in chapter 8.

i disagree, your limited on how much profiency you can gain per fight and you also cant grind the barrier prof in that stage, 9-6-5 is the best, you can easily run between fights to reduce loading time and you can grind all 4 profs in a single go

Haven’t done it myself because primal’s guide makes it seem pointless, but it’s supposed to be broken to the point where you take no damage in the stance at 100%. There is probably a trophy though. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t, but I’m saving platinum for new game+

The platinum trophy can be gained a lot easier than the 100%. If you do everything, there's nothing but the bragging rights about it.
