"People never buy a tube amp and go back to solid state". Yeap, spent 20 years with solid state gear (never heard tube gear before), until I heard the older Primaluna Prologue amp at a friends house. Well I just bought my first Primaluna. Only regret- spending so long with solid state gear. I was skeptical of tube HiFi. I heard they are warm and soft, and roll off the tops and bottoms. I was completely wrong. Whisper quiet noise floor, highly resolute, thick, 3-D tonally accurate mids, emotional, warm, detail highs, and power tight bass slam. The decay of drums, cymbals and instrumentals makes you want to cry in joy. The vocals sound so tonally accurate and have body, emotion and solidity. The cymbals and other high notes just glistens. Made the old Pass Labs XP-10 pre amp and X600.5 monos combo just sound digital and thin- and this was only compared to a Primaluna Prologue integrated amp!!

Hi Kevin, I just bought the EVO 400 pre but I haven’t decide yet on the power-amp. I have a pair of Maggies 3.7i and they need tons of current capacity to really shine and perform at their best. Most amps out there aren’t capable to bring to life large Maggies. I wonder if the EVO 400 monoblocks can do the job with ease and authority ? Thanks for your assistance. Best regards

Yes , Stereo or switchable to Mono. These amplifiers have plenty of bass slam in my opinion. If you look at the back they are thru 2 RCA jacks on the left. The switch is next to it . The Sub out is only on the EVO 300 & 400.

EVO400 coming in tomorrow. The jury will be out in after 500 listening hours. For me this is a huge leap in the dark, but I own a prologue 5 for my office system. I truly hope the investment is worth it. Kevin, I trust you. And also my wife might call you for you to talk her off the ledge my friend. $5k will be a problem 😂

@@MrBlur510 proac D30RS. Not as mono. This is the integrated EVO. Now exploring which speaker wire would be best. Signed up for the library program from the cable company. See what they have to say.

Would EVO 400 amplifiers used as mono-blocks have the necessary power and bandwidth to drive something like the YG Acoustics SONJA 2.3𝑖 speakers?

What is the equivalent of kr audio to el34s. Rip that power supply out put in switching mode in much better

@@garth56 Deep black hole called Mexico City; I have no access to Decware, Border Patrol, Raven and other US made brands. Actually my choices are the typical Chinese brands (with the awful post sale service), PrimaLuna, McIntosh and Rogue Audio.

​@@garth56 I am looking for a tube power amp capable of building the most holografic image and large soundstage possible. I have a pair of Klipsch Cornwall IV, I know, no hi-end speakers but very detailed, non forgiving and efficient; I want 60W/channel minimum and would like to have the triode/ultralinear option as well as bass punch when needed. I am not considering chinese gear, I have two already, they sound well but they are very limited. I would like an american or european brand with local delivery trough a distributor. My options (that I know of): 1)McIntosh MC-275 (no triode option and way too many printed circuit boards inside) 2)PrimaLuna EVO400 poweramp 3)Margules U280SC (this one is a little wimpy with Rock and even with Pop but I have a tone control that could help) 4)Cary Audio CAD120S MkII (do not know anything about it) 5)Ayon Spirit PA (this one looks great but it falls outside my budget once delivered) 6)Rogue Audio (I have eliminated this brand as I have not read very good opinions about it) Any suggestion would be totally welcome!!
