I started with OBS but only use it to record video from my Elgato HD60x. It works fine for this but great to know that Prism live is a simpler ‘out of the box’ experience for streaming. If I do ever decide to live stream, I’ll make sure to check it out!

OBS on a Mac is great except that it seems to always crash on closing. its opens up fine again, but its the only small ongoing niggle that neither Apple or OBS seem to be able to sort.

You have to close it by clicking exit in the bottom right rather than the red X in the top left. I find it doesn't cause any problems that way.

the prism is a nice choice...obs drain battery like a monster...streamlabs to....prism is pretty good choice

Sorry for the off-topic question here but wanted to come to a recent post. I'm trying to get DaVinci Resolve 18 to fit my macbook pro screen. I don't like working in a full-screen mode and when I drag the app handle bar from the corner I can reduce the timeline size but the app still remains from edge to edge on the screen. I can't work this way and would appreciate the help resolving this if possible. Thank you so much!

@@coldacre I and others have only found a way to record by streaming from OBS to Quicktime (such an ugly kluge). Not so with Intel versions.

@@halwye i’m on a Mac Mini Pro M2: I hit “Start Recording” and it works everytime. a heap of my streaming friends all on M1 & M2 have no issues either 🤷🏼‍♂️

I just discovered (after days of frustrating failure) that Settings/Output/Advanced/Recording/Recording Format/Fragmented MOV (.mov) was what was breaking it. (I'm on M3max, if that makes any difference).
