I want this brightness in the 1-8 plx Primary Arms should start trying to ruggedize their scopes, similar to Trijicon, and get their brightness to this level or similar to leupold or nightforce. I'd pay premium for that, _especially_ with their intuitive ACSS reticles. Make it happen Primary Arms, for the love of all that is holy. *WANT*

They would have to develop a duel emitter setup to have this level of brightness (done right) on a ffp lpvo. But it would sell, quickly. I've talking to PA about using the plxc architecture to build a 2-16. They don't see a market for one.........
@nighthawk9264
@nighthawk9264 11 ай бұрын
@@CDOES Well, to be fair, there are dozens of 3-15x on the market (on that note, take a look at the Hawke Frontier FFP 3-15x50), so 2-16 doesn't add all too much. But I think they should make a no compromises LPVO. Bright, ACSS reticle, FFP, good glass and eye box. I belief they'd easily blow Trijicon, NF, etc out of the water. Even if they were asking for 2000-2500$. Doesn't have ti be as tough as a trijicon either. Just make something like a Razor Gen II. Bring some actual competition.

I owned 2 PST’s, bought them at the same time. Had them a month and sold both of them. I was not happy what so ever. Namely I was severely disappointed in the light gathering and transmission, which in my opinion is the most important factor for a hunting optic. Both of mine were 50mm objective and should have had zero issue in that department.

Only thing I wish they would add to this is some sort of ranging to the side. They've done such awesome reticles i wish they would include some of the additional quick info. As far as having PA reach out to you, you deserve the recognition. What an exceptional review and extensive comparison of this LPVO. You went the extra mile to show off its best features, as well as, to identify its limitations. In the end sometimes you have to take on the extra weight and cost to get a better optic. Curious if the Delta Optical Stryker HD 1-6X24 is worth the extra juice vs. going with the Vortex PST.

I really like primary arms. I have a 1-8X LPVO with the old ACSS reticle with the horseshoe and chevron which i prefer. I can use it like a red dot at 1X or use the chevron for precision shooting at farther distances. Love it for my hunting AR15 6.5 grendel. I considered for a long time about getting the 1-4 or 1-6 LPVO for my 5.56. Ended up going with EOTech EXP2-2 and G33 magnifier since i will be using it for sport, recreation shooting and maybe get into competition shooting.

The ACSS is great, for a DMR/SAPR type rifle... but it's too busy for me to use as a red dot - this however, this I like. It's simple and clean with a nice bright dot in the center. That makes for a good, quick, solid, red dot - or - a medium range scope by throwing the lever: that's what I *want* from an lpvo. This is my idea of an lpvo done right.

@@lomparti no major ones! I'm still getting used to the tighter eyebox of an LPVO compared to my old 1x Cyclops Prism, but that's an LPVO issue, not a Nova specific one. It's a great mid range optic, I normally run it at 5-7 brightness for close up "red dot" shooting, and when doing longer range or more precision, I keep it at a 1 on the brightness because it's just enough to help make the center of the crosshair more precise, especially when shooting at dark colored targets or shot up steel in shadows. There are definitely better LPVO's out there, but dollar for dollar I'm extremely happy with this one.

24:17 - Smallbore, You mention that the 50 Yard Range is showing a little bit more shift when viewing the back of the Berm, I believe this is due to most centerfire scopes are rated to be parallax free at 100 Yards and beyond, and some are better than others. Given the price-point of this scope it seems entirely acceptable. Excellent review, Thank You. I keep looking for a possible replacement for my P4xi that I purchased years ago from Optics Planet on a Black Friday Special with an extra $100 Off Coupon, I ended up only paying $325 (EDIT) for the then brand new P4xi. Thanks for doing these reviews in this way. I know its gotta be a lot of work. The more I learn about optics the more is see the ACTUAL differences. In just the short time I've had watching your videos, its helped me understand details that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to understand. I'm a believer that educated discerning customers are one of the main driving forces that make companies have to stay on their game rather than getting complacent and resting on their laurels. Like how PEW Science has helped introduce a desire for better performing suppressors, this kind of content can help open up markets for better performing optics. There HAS to be a market for it in order for companies to make it worth their while to pursue. So lets normalize people wanting GOOD optics.

I just tried my optics at a carbine class and ditched it after the first drill. The biggest issue is that I shoot both eyes open and I have a stigmatism. So to get things into focus I have to adjust the rear focus. Well, the ONLY time this optic is 1x is when the focus adjust is at zero (all the way in). So as soon as you start to adjust this focus out the magnification changes significantly. Because of this you end up with one eye non magnified and one eye magnified. It was very disorienting and I had to finish the drill with one eye closed. (I changed it out with my Vortex Razor II that doesn’t have these problems…and neither do my vortex strike fires…) As I said before the second issue is struggling to get a clear picture through the optic. I can never find that sweet spot where the optic is clear and the blackness isn’t encroaching on one half of the optic. It’s fine at a bench and usable for things like ready up drills but it’s very annoying to always see that blackness shading out a portion of the optic. I really wanted to love this optic because it is clear, the controls are awesome and the dot/reticle is one of the best I’ve seen. However I really think this needs some upgrades before I can use it on my rifles.

Hey CDOES would you value having better image quality or having more zoom? right now i’m looking between this PA 1-6 NOVA and the VORTEX 1-4 PST. And I want to use my optic for PID out to 600 yards if that’s possible

I have the 1-8 SLX, its good from 1 to about 7.2X, after that the eye box gets super tight and unless you in the perfect spot it gets blurry

I might replace my optics now. The whole reason I avoided an LPVO is due to the brightness issues most of the more affordable ones have so I went red dot/magnifier and I've been happy with it, but this optic is everything I want. Plus this things very simple and uncluttered reticle speaks to me way more than PAs normal ACSS stuff. They tend to just overdo it on their standard LVPOs.

That’s not what these are meant for imo. It’s best to use along with an offset or piggyback red dot. Lpvo are for being able to reach out so illumination really isn’t a big deal.

This plus thr auto-live battery sounds like a badass combo especially considering it'd still be coming in at under 400

An interesting touch is that some, but not all, PA LPVOs have the magnification dial rotate counterclockwise, as the SLx Nova’s does here. This puts the throw lever on the shooter’s left side at 9 o’clock when the magnification is dialed up. And that can be very useful on a bolt action rifle - keeps the throw lever out of the way of working the bolt. Since you will (I submit) almost always have it dialed to at least 2x magnification on a bolt gun - you’re not doing red dot 1x CQB stuff with it - that means the throw lever on the Nova will always be handily out of the user’s way. Yet it’s not the same across the whole PA lineup. The PLx-C used as a comparison here has the dial go the other way, clockwise, like most LPVOs do (in my observation). Interesting difference.

Was trying to decide between the nova and the msr tango 6. Bc it’ll be my first lpvo and I don’t have a mount. Is the PA free mount good enough?

Love my 1-4 pst I bought a million years ago. It's been through hell and back in 3gun matches. The illumination in it sucks though.

Let’s be real the sales come here and there but usually the pst is 599$ and the PA nova is 340$ so that’s a major difference for very little difference in performance.

I bought the Sig MSR 1-6 a couple months back before I knew about this (its a backup. My primary setup is a PST gen 2 1-6.) does the MSR still have any value and could I still stretch it out to maybe 400 or 500 in a pinch?

Awesome coverage once again. Did you ever have a look at the Vector Optics Continental 1-6x24 (german glass afaik)? They seem to be quite similar

OK I've been watching ur channel non stop past 72 hours 😂. You are by far the best at optics reviews. Can u help with a problem? Given everything you have tested what's the top 3 mid range scopes? Loest magnification is 2-3 Highest magnification 10-15 Ideally no bigger than 50 unless you really like it.

Another great review. Not to be a hater or anything, but devoting 40 minutes to a video is a little tough. I watched your explanation and understand why. I just have to get used to watching in segments now, lol. Thanks for doing what you do.

Man! I like this Nova reticle, but 1-6x ain't gonna cut it. Got to have 1-8 , 1-10 or even 2-12 or 3-15 full size. I'm tired of folks saying 10x is good for 1000 yd shooting. My eyesight is great and 10x ain't s**t when trying to hit at 1K.

I have one of those on my AR and it freaking slaps!!! People say it's not as fast as a red dot, but I don't buy it. I got it because my astigmatism makes precision hard, but speed wise, I see no difference in my shooting. And the eye box is so stupidly massive I've not once failed to get it no matter my shooting position or if I'm coming off a transition

@@matthewjohnson2428 Totally agree- Every bit as good as a red dot in my opinion. Eye relief is absurdly long. Crisp, clear, and precise. I believe that PA 1x Cyclops Micro is the most innovative optic that PA has come out with.
