In short the treatment is of three types -curative or potentially curative, palliative and supportive as under. CR/PCR-LTx or surgical resection. Or RFA, Microwave though debatable . Palliative- TACE or SIRT or direct arterial chemo pump. Supportive - systemic therapy or immunotherapy. Each of the above treatments have certain indications and limitations. BCLC ( revised 2020 )though restrictive as regards surgical resection is popular in the western world, whereas in Asia there are several staging systems and guidelines for treatment ie China, Korea , Hong Kong wherein resection is the treatment of choice for BCLC intermediate stage in suitable cases ( operable and resectable) even in patients with high risk of recurrence) Besides In selected cases more than one modality can be combined to downstage the disease so as to make it eligible for a curative treatment ( LTx or Resection).
