Great review, Dustin!! Thank you for going into more detail regarding the shims.

Cable stops only?!?!?! Whaaaaa
@Southern-bucks5 жыл бұрын
Shims are not included with these bows. They can be purchased separate . They are cable stop only but Im a fan of Limb stops but I was 100% pleased with the cable stops and I usually hate that. They are extremely solid

@georgemessenger75675 жыл бұрын
why would you need to change shims if theres no cam lean
@sneakybow15 жыл бұрын
If you want to be extremely anal retentive with tuning, shims are that next step. Not necessarily a lean issue, but an alignment left to right. You aren't going to be twisting yokes on this, you're going to swap shims, which takes about 5 minutes on a Prime.

What’s the colour of this black one series bow, is it Morel or Grizzly brown?

I think it's yoti/escape

If you look close at the cam there is a second track that should be for a limb stop, Prime needs to clarify this or its a bad move IMHO.
@dustinthewind265 жыл бұрын
The pay outs for the cables are outside of the parallel string track. With its current design limb stops are not an option. The additional stop track you mention is for the cable stop.

It’s for short draw section of the cam you move the cable stop in the shorter track

My question is why do their longer axle-to-axle bows have shorter brace heights while the shorter axle-to-axle bows have longer brace heights? If I buy a shorter axle-to-axle bow I’m purchasing it to be more of a speed bow and if I’m purchasing a longer axle-to-axle bow I’m purchasing it to be more of a forgiving bow. But with a shorter brace height that defeats the purpose of buying a longer axle-to-axle bow. And with a longer brace height on the shorter axle-to-axle bows it defeats the purpose of buying a shorter bow to be more of a speed bow. Prime has it backwards if you ask me. As far as only having cable stops I have no issue with that. If you’re a true archer you understand the benefits of a cable stop over a limb stop.

Shorter bows are inherently less accurate and longer brace lengths are more forgiving/accurate, so maybe they were aiming for accuracy. G5 is ran by engineers after all, instead of marketers. That's my guess anyways.

They managed to keep that solid backwall feel, you'd never know it was a cable stop after shooting it
@dewboy9105 жыл бұрын
Why is the bow rocking so violently on the draw???? According to some of the "experts" on ArcheryTalk, it is hard to torque a Prime even if you try! I'm baffled.

Best bows on the market, but cable stops only is terrible

Based on comments seems very solid and not spongy, but you can go for others as the Elites if limb stops is amust. Lots of new features from most of brands this year.

Don't like the look of those cams, more to worrie about going wrong
@sneakybow15 жыл бұрын
Blah blah blah. That's what people have been trying to say for ten years with the Prime cam system. Hasn't been proven yet to be any more complex than any other cam system. It's ok if you don't like, but stop with that BS.

Some info does not sound right. if you look close at the cam there is another track that looks to be for a limb stop.
@GlazeHeadlightRestorationLogan5 жыл бұрын
I shot the black 5 side by side with the ct5 before I knew it didn’t have limb stops, but I had no idea! They feel almost identical on the back wall it’s pretty epic.
@caseyvandergraaf57625 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's just cable stops but after shooting it, it is just as solid as any other Prime. Backwall is sooo solid. Was very concerned about it until I shot it and found out the draw cycle feels better than last years and still has the solid backwall!
@Arrowslinger1233 жыл бұрын
@@recycledshaun that’s for the shorter draw lengths on the cam 25.5-26.5 inch section that’s why it has another track. You move the cable stop in that section

Which bow from the current Mathews catalogue allows draw length adjustment with rotating modules? I like Mathews a lot, but they could learn something about bow finishing from Prime and bow tunning from Bowtech and Elite. I'll order my first target bow this month and currently the runner ups are the TRX 40, the Reckoning 38, the Rezult and the Black 9, and albeit the TRX 40 is my fav based on how silent and quiet are the previous TRX, the other candidates have better features in terms of quality of life: I don't have a bow press (a good one is ~500 € here) and the closest pro-bow shop is ~400 Km away. So being able to tune the cam lean with an allen wrench (Bowtech, Elite) or the draw length (Bowtech, Elite, Prime) without a press is a plus. I would like to see the Mathews dampening system in a Prime riser with the SET tilting tech from elite or the Cam Drive & Lock from Bowtech. I'm brand agnostic.

Buran01 you definitely are right about primes finish, i have a old prime and the camo still looks brand new after years of hunting
@Buran015 жыл бұрын
@@dustybowhunter Yep, Prime's finish is pretty much the Rolls Royce of the industry; their solid colors looks so good that I wouldn't even buy one with a camo pattern if I had to hunt with it. Morrel was my fav, but the new Grizzly Brown is just amazing!

You mean, the technology that Mathews was licensing from Darton? That technology? Yeah, Mathews didn't invent that, just like they didn't invent the single cam concept. Mathews fan boys sure are an interesting bunch.
