Modric trump Iniesta in terms of achievement, shots, power, longevity, stamina, leadership, long passes, and defensive capabilities. Iniesta is more creative for sure. What Modric achieved with Croatia is something a small footballing nation will very rarely acheieves whereas Spain will always be a footballing power. Three peat with Madrid and Ballon D'or is what makes him the greatest midfielder of the century (Half of Zidane's career was before 2000). Although Iniesta is not far apart. You can make good arguments for him also. Respect and love for both.

Guardiola and a lot of high performing footballers all recognised Iniesta as one of the best, if not THE best midfielder. Tbh I think Iniesta should be compared with likes of Ozil instead, both had fantastic vision, passing and dribbling ability etc. Ozil screwed himself over in his career, but they both good.

What about vision? Long shots? Shot power? Plus Iniesta could play as a centre mid, attacking mid, left/right mid, and even as a left winger. While Modric would never work as anything other than a central midfielder. These two players are only comparable when it comes down to career achievements, because individually Iniesta absolutely clears Modric and it's not even close, especially in their prime where Iniesta was truly almost as good as Messi
