@@jessmacdd Well, he did spend his earliest years in Ottawa. He went to French immersion there. Actually I know plenty of people who were born in Montreal and who grew up there and can barely speak French. It is really a question of two solitudes.

I think they use standard French to be understood by all francophones by avoiding words and expressions typically Quebecois, except those that we know well.
