Prime Time With Ravish Bengali Film Industry Loses One Of Its Greatest Actors - Soumitra Chatterjee

Prime Time - November 16, 2020: Soumitra Chatterjee, who captivated Bengal with his luminescent performances on the Bengali silver screen for 62 years, who would have turned 86 on the 19th of January next year, died today after a 40-day struggle at the hospital, battling COVID-19, complications and comorbidities. The Dada Saheb Phalke award came in 2012, the Padma Bhushan in 2004. Soumitra Chatterjee had rejected the Padma Shri twice before that because, it is said, he felt they came too late and not for his best work. Soumitra Chatterjee did not just act in films. He straddled the theatre, acting on stage, directing and writing plays, essays, poetry. He painted. He raised the recitation of poetry to a fine art that entranced Bengal for years. (Audio in Hindi)

Hirak Rajar Deshe is a movie that can penetrate human's mind of different age group in a different way. For children it's is movei of eveil king and Gupi and Bagah were heros. But when I say as an adult it shows the Political situation of India since 1947 that is where ever which party comes to power become dominant and oppressive. The movie hits the Indian politicians directly or indirectly but no ruling govt have been able to bann it or will be able to ban it bcz it's has been designed in such a way that it's will defend itself as a movie for children. This is speciality of the movie. If Satyajit Ray was mind of an artist then Tapan Chatterjee as Gupi, Ravi Ghosh as Bagha Soumitra Chatterjee as Prof Udayaan and Utpal DUTTa as Hirak raja and others were the hand of the artist.
