@crossefire013 жыл бұрын
@@hsingh505 I had one small interior noise that needed to be figured out by a tech. I also commute on a major highway to and from work and have had my windshield cracked three times by rocks. Could be bad luck but I did read that these newer windshields can be more brittle. Easy enough for me. I have full windshield coverage in my insurance so it worked out. Other than that, it's the best purchase I've ever made. Great to drive!

Thanks for a great video review. I just got to test one in our heavy stop and go traffic on our island and can tell you that one of the very best technologies of the Telluride is its level 2 automated driving in Stop and Go , bumper to bumper traffic! One it's key features is its LFA (Lane Following Assist - the little green steering wheel icon). The fact that it keeps automatically steering for you all the way down to zero mph (in conjunction with the Smart Cruise that also works at creeping speeds), is much better than almost any other vehicle (except Tesla). For we folks that are often caught in traffic jams (on any road or freeway), it is almost unbeatable and takes all the stress out of heavy traffic jams!
@PrimeAutotainment4 жыл бұрын
For sure! It’s very impressive and really can take away some stress in those times! Thanks for stopping by to share that! 😁👍

Kudos for this video, Nolan. Frankly, I thought Adaptive Cruise Control was more or less a gimmick until I purchased a KIA Sorento with the feature last year. I'd had cruise control on a number of vehicles, of course, but "Smart Cruise" was new to me. Now I wouldn't purchase a vehicle I expect to drive on long freeway slogs without it. The boost in relaxation on a crowded interstate is amazing.. By eliminating the need to constantly monitor the distance between my vehicle and the one ahead, hit the brake, and reactivate the cruise control when the coast is clear is a huge benefit. I'd estimate it extends the time I can drive without fatigue by about 25%. Eliminating additional stops at rest areas alone reduces the time a trip takes significantly. And it's worth noting that KIA's system (the same on all vehicles where it's offered) is significantly better than other brands I've driven. I'm somewhat less enamored by "lane keeping assist" systems. I have that feature on both my Sorento and my GTI and find that it's less than perfect at distinguishing true lane markers and operating well in situations such as freeway off ramps. Nevertheless, its attempt to keep me on the straight and narrow is subtle and easy to overcome with my hands on the wheel when I know better than the automated system what I'm dealing with. I don't have the camera based blind spot monitoring on my Sorento that the Telluride offers and I wish I did. It would have prevented a minor side swipe my wife encountered when she attempted a lane change at night and a driver in the adjacent lane attempted to pass her on the right at a considerably higher speed. The blind spot monitor warning in the side mirrors is usually sufficient but a camera view would have added a sort of "belt and suspenders" extra margin of safety. I find it appalling that some manufacturers don't include some form of blind spot monitoring as a standard part of their suite of safety systems, especially larger SUV's with major blind spots or vehicles like the Camaro where the driver is seated at the bottom of what appears to be a bathtub with very tall sides and practically no visibility. Automatic high/low beams are another valuable feature (imo). I only wish the numbskulls who drive toward me with their high beams on had the feature on their vehicles. My eyes are apparently especially sensitive to light and being blinded by oncoming traffic has been a problem for me for years. And I feel like as the average driver gets older the problem gets even worse. Owning both a GTI and a midsize SUV means I have to adjust to two very different size vehicles on a regular basis. I seldom encounter an issue in parking my GTI (my daily driver) but when I'm in the Sorento it's nice to be alerted to obstacles, especially cross traffic in the grocery store parking lot. Not a huge safety issue but minor fender benders can be VERY expensive. Some other welcome assistance features include turning off my headlights after I've parked in my garage. And my GTI even reminds me to take my cell phone with me. Now if I could program either one to remind me to take my reusable grocery bags into the store. :) Nice to know that as I age my vehicles are looking out for me. Finally, while I value many of the new driver assistance features, systems that approach "autopilot" behavior (such as Cadillac's and Tesla's) hold no great appeal for me. I've just spent too many years with my hands on the wheel and my attention on the road. I'm nervous enough when I have to yield control of the car to my wife. (And she's a very good driver.) Just too old to change, I think. Oh, yeah. I almost forgot to add "Get off my lawn!" Once again, Nolan. A very informative and more or less unique perspective in your video. Some reviewers devote entire videos to infotainment systems but I'd say this topic is a considerably more critical set of features. Hope you'll follow up with other vehicles.

Thank you for this awesome video. It's what I have been looking for and have not found elsewhere. Great stuff! My current vehicles do not have these safety features and I am eager to learn more about them. One question: I am curious why you do not recommend using the smart cruise control for stop and go traffic?
@PrimeAutotainment5 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it! You’re welcome! Only because I don’t fully trust it yet. I would have liked to use it in stop and go and narrate for you all but sometimes it leaves enough space (like it should) then people cut in front because of that space and the vehicle continually slows down to keep a distance. Otherwise it’s fantastic. I use it going to work on a moderately busy interstate and it’s less stressful using the lane assist and adaptive cruise..good stuff overall! 👍

Scenario . . . there are two lanes in the direction you are heading. There is a red light ahead. The car you are following decides to abruptly change lanes and there is no car ahead of him. Result: your vehicle begins to accelerate through the red light and possibly moves into cross traffic. That is the most obvious reason for not using adaptive cruise control in stop and go traffic. I have the feature in my car, and I quickly learned that lesson when I traveled on a high speed secondary road that had the occasional stoplight. Adaptive cruise should only be used when traveling on major highways.
@stephenpowstinger7335 жыл бұрын
You can where the car ahead comes to a normal stop. But if you come up on a stopped car at a traffic light it cannot handle that much speed difference so you'd better slow down before it pickups up that car. The radar only has a range of roughly a hundred feet. Tell me if I'm wrong any pro.

It's nice to see how other adaptive steering and safety systems work in other vehicles. My '18 Rav has the adaptive cruise and lane keep assist, but sometimes the system seems to panic is some situations. such as with the cruise, I have to keep it at it's shortest distance when using it because it seems to panic immediately when another car enters my lane. It also seems to be slow to return to normal speed once the other vehicle leaves or I change lanes. Overall, it's a good system though. As far as the emergency braking, it's only sent a false alert once so far.

Just to give you some additional info on what sensors are actually used, and for what, the "parking sonar" actually uses ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers/fascia of the vehicle. The blind spot detection also use corner radar sensors mounted under the rear fascia. The active cruise control probably uses a fusion that combines the output from the windshield mounted camera and a center mounted long range radar hidden under the front grill or the front fascia. Pretty good video overall though!

Dang i'm not sure what would cause that. A couple of things to check..there's a sensor/camera in the windshield behind the rearview mirror..make sure there's not mud or a bug or something that could be blocking that..also check the front end around the KIA badge and see if there's anything caked on like bugs or something. If there isn't anything obvious...might need to call the dealer and see if there is a quick reset or something. if you have to take it in, it should be covered by the warranty at this point. I had a 2008 kia sportage only down fall was I got it in 2 WD 2.0.That yr it come in v6.. It had NO Blind sports at all. The New kia are nice but they want you to pay for safty Features cameras ..I believe they shouldn't change you for something they built with blind spots add to the Design ..Like I said No Blind spot issues in 2008 models.

How many highway miles do you get on a full tank?
@RubyComet75 жыл бұрын
I have the palisade awd and doing 55-65 on highway I was avg 31mpg I live in North Carolina where avg speed limit is 55 on almost every highway expect int 40 or int 95. City driving so far 28 mpg
@yuantronz455 жыл бұрын
socalimomdr - based on the MPG you’re getting, which is 28 CITY and the tank is about 18.8 gallons, you can drive for 526.4 miles till your next refuel. These are great numbers and they should be similar for the Palisade which I prefer over the Telluride. Thanks.

I've never cared about the prestige of a brand. I want cool features, comfort, and reliability. I was impressed when I heard about Kia's warranty, but then I read a bunch of actual user experiences and THEY say Kia is very strict and stingy about what they'll cover and reasons for denying a warranty claim. What have YOU heard?
@PrimeAutotainment5 жыл бұрын
Dang that’s interesting and a good question...I don’t have any experiencing using the warranty nor have I heard from people’s experiences but I’d definitely want a hard copy of what’s covered and what’s not as well as conditions that need to be met

this guy while showing the safety/convenience features, he doesn't trust it fully so he has to turn his back when merging and be on full alert. It's got a long way to go.
