Arriving at -4/x is very circuitous. It could have been arrived at in simpler way by just ordinary simplification process.

If you block text with a leading and trailing underscore you get italics, use * and you get bold, use a dash( ie minus) and you get a strikethrough. It's similar but not the same as markdown for notes. I've noticed markdown users often getting strikethroughs unintentionally.
