What powder? The Fed 205 will light extruded nicely, but not so good with ball powders.

Hi Totalla! This was H4350, an extruded powder. Thanks for watching my friend!

I’d like to reload some range ammo with the CCI 450’s.

Funny - for the first time in a while I was able to buy primers from a regular retailer - was able to get 450s and 205s - can wait to test. Shooting the 140 ELD-Ms and building a 6.5x47 - my target speed here will be a little lower than my 6.5 creedmoor (Used 210’s there). But I was at 2880 (ES 4.9, SD 12) and will likely be at 2820. I’m learning more and more that you want the higher nodes - which is what benchrest guys do. Not on facebook but will add comment here once my build is done and compare the two. Although Erik Cortina would tell you your approach is wrong and say that a primer is like powder and you need to develop the load with the primer and then compare to a differently developed load with another primer. Its possible that they have two different nodes - this is most likely what I will do and see what is better.

Hey S F! Good comment and want to see your results...Please post when you have them. I know I should be looking at a higher velocity node, but this lower velocity has worked for me so I don't want to tweek it. I was also crunching powder above 42.1 grains due to the lower Alpha case volume, but again, I love alpha brass so will stick with this load. Again, let us know what you find my friend and thanks again for being a loyal "The 4GunGuy" follower!

Btw - my ES dropped dramatically when I went from N555 to Staball 6.5 because I went from 103% to 99% case capacity. Will post after I test. Thanks for the great down to earth content.

What powders ?
@The4GunGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Fook! H4350 was the powder. 41.3 was the load at that time I believe with Alpha brass and Hornady 140 gr BTHP bullet seated 0.060 off the lands. Thanks for watching!

i may not be 100% correct... but as a master reloader I see zero difference in primers..You can use small rifle primers to replace small pistol primers no sweat... not the other way around as the cup pressure of the rifle rd is tremendous compared to a pistol rd... so u risk a blow out on ignition.... seating depth... start or max powder or different burn rate powder effects the flight of the projectile... every reloader i know goes on fps.... yet they can't define the speed.... simple. speed of sound roughly 770 mph== 1175 fps... a hot 22_250 load?? 4000 fps?? ruffly 2800 mph.. screaming... the formula is... FPS÷ 1.42== MPH... THAT'S a fact... happy shooting.. i looked it up... i was off a bit... speed of sound is 761 mph equals 1100 fps... 223 going 3000 fps equals 2112 mph....like we learn in military combat... you hear the gun shot??? thats a good thing as bullet could be 2 second ahead of the pop u will hear

@@The4GunGuy I actually enjoyed ur vidio.... reloading is a skill no one can ever take from you once u understand the entire process.... I love it... I reload 10 different calibers... people don't really understand... not about the max fps... when a bullet is traveling 2500 mph 25_50 mph either way isn't that big a deal.... the big deal is creating the right combination to get the projectile to stabilize... zero wobble... any bullet tip...any powder. any primer will create a load good enough to kill a deer at 200 yrds... but a nickel group at that range??? that's where the skill comes in....
@The4GunGuy2 жыл бұрын
@@Honest-abe76 Totally agree! Look up my reloading videos, you might like them too. My buddy says I'm "over the top" with the things I do, but like you said, it's really therapy for me and I enjoy the precision needed to work up that right combination of bullet, powder, prep'd case, primer, seating depth and so on.
