Enjoy your videos, I have two questions. 1. For rust protection I have used vinegar, where does etch primer fit in? 2. Can etch primer be sanded, what should be applied on it.

That what I was kinda wanting to know. I sanded down the rusty areas and little bit of the rest as well. I vinegar sand it with a scotch brite and got most of rust off. Had few metal spots showing. Should I etch prime over them little spots and then use epoxy primer over the whole thing to seal the car and then throw 2k primer on it than sand the 2k primer (which, not entirely sure what 2k is for, is it like the poly primer and is sand able and what grit in between these products and when to use fill for the pitted metal on the roof of car)??? I'm new kinda new to body work, don't do if for a living and can't afford to pay someone else to. If any one has any advice ill take it.

Great info thanks for your input. I have one more important question. When you are sanding 400 grit and you had some bleed throughs what do you do next? Epoxy seal it? Spot Epoxy? Spot Poly again?. This is a panel after 3 sessions of poly and 1 base coat of epoxy is ready for 2k.

If you sanded through and hit metal again I would spot prime the metal area with epoxy before applying the primer surfacer. If it is ready to paint, then I would reduce the epoxy and spray as a sealer. You can aply your base coat over the epoxy. If you wait longer than the epoxy window you will need to scuff before applying the base coat. The epoxy I use has a 3 day window.

@@CarAddictGarage Can I just use the epoxy as a sealer over the whole thing and then 2 K prime over that?

@@CarAddictGarage So Got off the phone with Eastwood. They told me no need for 2 builders. use Epoxy cut 20% no 2k. I then asked what if there is a spot that needs attention? They said fix it do the whole panel over again reduced.

@@Supanova70 If you are using Eastwood products I would use their recommendations. Every paint company may be a little different. It is always best to follow the technical data sheet for the specific products you are using.

Hey Car Addict. I think your name is Pete, but not sure. Anyway, I watch all of your videos. You have lots of information to pass on. I really don't know much about paint types. I can lay it down good, but I don't know what paint can go over what paint. Or what hardener can be added to what type of paint. I have used an aerosol spray can paint that was made for my car, but when I applied it, it cracked all over. what was the problem. Plus, can I add a hardener to single-stage paint without any kind of problem. Thanks in advance.🍁👍👍

I have watched your videos as well. Actually, my name is Donnie Smith, my friend Pete is another channel. He has some great videos as well. Aerosol paint is best applied over cured and sanded surfaces. It does not mix well over other fresh paint systems. There are so many paint systems out there. I would recommend asking the person you buy your paint from for a technical data sheet for the products you are using. This will tell you mixing ratios what hardener to use and compatable products. Thanks for watching and good luck on your build.

2K stands for two-component, meaning it had a catalyst, So the epoxy is alos a 2K product. However the 2K primer surfacer will need to be sanded. If using epoxy, there is no need to use self etch. After spraying epoxy, I would spray the primer surfacer (without sanding) within 3 days or whatever your brand recommends. If you wait longer than the window, you will need to scuff the epoxy before applying the primer surfacer. The epoxy provides the corrosion protection and the surfacer acts as a filler that will stay in the pits, scratches, or minor imperfections after block sanding. I hope this helps!
