Haven't painted in years but back in the 80's myself and a friend of mine painted a number of cars/trucks and damn near got addicted to Featherfill. The stuff went down and stuck to pretty much anything, you say it's hard but we thought it sanded like butter, it filled everything - as an experiment we had the stuff fill 24# grinder marks and it worked! - and it was an ultimate bleeder/sealer, nothing is getting through it. It turned out to be kind of a cure-all when we got something that someone else tried to paint and had it all f-ed up.

Great video. Is there any benefit to adding sealer over feather fill before your base coat? Or are you just wasting time and introducing a potential failure point?

Hi Tony , I'm going to be doing a complete re spray , in a classic .... it's got old base/ clear on, but I'm going back to solid/ single stage .. , on the normal non repair panel like bonnet , what's best 80 then 180 before first prime ? ( it will be getting blocked and primed again ) thanks

Sprayed 2k epoxy primer sealer on truck today grey color but it came out looking clear after mixing it with 2 parts activator 2 parts epoxy primer sealer and one part reducer. I don't know how it came out clear looking but didn't wait 30 minutes to spray the sealer which saw people on KZbin saying wait 30 minutes before spraying the epoxy primer 2k sealer. The can said 1 part epoxy primer sealer 1 1 activator and half urethane reducer.

Polyester primer is sprayable bondo. I like to water block each panel because it shows the high and low areas ,even when you use a guide coat.

So many debates over this. Just got off the phone with Tamco they said no filler on bare metal creates heat then condensation on metal and to put over there DTM high build 5310. I do not need epoxy if car is inside all the time it will save you a lot of money just block and top coat your done and still have epoxy properties in the DTM.

DTM doesn't protect against corrosion like an Epoxy and DTM is waterproof. Epoxy over bare metal is written in the Bible.

Hey Tony i was finishing my 3rd session of Poly HB For some reason the paper is gumming up to the point i cannot sand it any more almost like sanding Epoxy. Any ideas? to dry? to much catalyst?

It could be because of not enough activator/hardener. Let it cure for a few more days and try again. You may just need to sand it with a courser grit to get it off... then re-do it. Maybe 100 grit. check out LABAP VIP to learn more if you need help. learnautobodyandpaint.com

Just gonna get the gallon of Epoxy primer that is a sealer online from Eastwood site and when paint truck sand the whole truck inside and out because it gonna be a different color daytona electric blue then put the basecoat on then clear but my vehicle doesn't have a lot of imperfections and no bare metal on my truck which is a metallic midnight blue color and it is going to a color that is lighter blue I got some reducer too though I hope the truck comes out well but will have to see.

Hey Tony. You say wait a week after the 2k urethane is sprayed on. But if I’m spray epoxy primer first then the 2k urethane. Do I have to wait a week after epoxy is sprayed in order to spray 2k urethane or can those two be sprayed same day ? Thanks

You can absolutely spray the same day... I was saying, you will have time from spraying the 2k over your epoxy 😎

I am trying to learn the differemce between epoxy primer and 2K epoxy primer. I have watched multiple videos and it always seems that these terms are used as if they are different products. I have 2K epoxy primer and I'm trying to ascertain if that is good to be used as the sealing primer for a steel bike frame And then spray a fillable primer (then sand) over to fill any small pitting in the tubes and then go over that with the base coat in the clear coat. I have sprayMax 2K epoxy primer but again the confusion for me is that it seems the terms "epoxy" and "2K epoxy" are used as if they are different products. thank you for any insight that you can provide.

Okay Tim my name is Sal I'll try to explain this to you if it says epoxy primer epoxy primer is pretty much for bare metal after it dries you can stuff it down really light then go over it with your filler primer High Build primer after you spray your high Build primer you can send that down to 400 to 600 wet then apply your single stage or base coat clear coat over that hope that

Never used a polyester primer just use Bondo gonna paint my car this year just will use a Epoxy primer after I sand these spots where had rust to bare metal and then sand the whole vehicle then would have to use a guide coat and after that apply this high build urethane primer got. I just paint my own vehicles now one day if I ever do a restoration would do polyester primer but that depends if end up painting for myself other people's vehicles one day. Only been painting almost two years and the info find is from KZbin mostly but messed up a lot of times can see I was getting better but am learning not hands on from a professional painter don't even know a person who paints now years ago did but was before I started painting. But I can't say now if I will go really far with painting now not good enough yet anyway. I never painted in the winter yet either don't got the heater for painting in Michigan in garage yet guy told me at a store Auto Value where bought paint before not to use a propane heater though have a kerosene heater won't use that though I saw it said to use a direct fire heater. I saw that Evercoat polyester primer said it can cause a flash fire the high solids glamour clear got this year said is flammable too though I been buying the Paint For Cars site products though the basecoat and bought epoxy primer/ sealer on there and recently the glamour clear used Nason sealer once but used Speedkote products too just got Epoxy primer/sealer black but used their clearcoat too but never used the high solids yet.

Hey Man! Unopened good for years if stored in a stable temperature. Opened the Part again is good for years, primer activators once open 30-90 days. You can always revive old primer even after 2 years in storage. You just need to ensure the primer is in good condition. Hope this helps! Hey Ray! You could use Apoxsee but I would rather use a basic 2K filler primer. If it’s really scratched up and bad and you want to fill you can use a feather fill.
