It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

I think what we misunderstand about the Deep is that imagine walking by the pet stores, every restaurant, every zoo or aquarium or just swimming in the water - and you hear the other living things. Begging, crying, pleading to not be cut or eaten, to be let out to freedom. You would get traumatized so easily
@collinsides7941
@collinsides7941 9 ай бұрын
I mean, he explains it pretty clearly in the show. I don't think there is much of a misunderstanding between the Deep's character and us, the viewers. Rather, the Deep is made to look like a joke because his powers have little practical use. That's why he is led down this "redemption" path as he becomes invested in these weird cult-like organizations to repair his reputation after being exposed for sexual assault and being booted from the Seven. He tries to become some environmentalist, nature-loving, spiritual influence as he struggles to gain his fame back. We see how much he struggles with the way he is treated and the consequences of his crimes, and yet, like A-Train, he continues to chase the money and fame, making him look like a fraud. We understand how he hears the fear and pleading in the animals around him, and how no one takes him seriously, but he has yet to prove himself as a person with good intentions to gain our sympathy.

@@thaumiel2013 I am on the side of those that actually accomplished anything. To be honest, Starlight's actions never really made much difference. She tried outing the Deep for sexually assaulting, Vought just capitalized on her as a female empowerment symbol. She tried leaking the truth about Compound V, Vought just pinned the blame on Madelyn and moved on. Starlight leaked how Stormfront is actually a Nazi, Vought just cut all ties with Stormfront and moved on. Starlight tried to blackmail Homelander? Homelander made it very clear exactly what he would do if he ever lost the love of the public and tells her if she wants to try him. Starlight tried to turn the public against Homelander? It turns out Homelander has die-hard fans who love him even if he kills someone in broad daylight. Starlight and the Boys defeated Soldier Boy? Homelander is still there who would have killed everyone if Ryan did not tell him to leave. I won't deny those were good things she did. It is a shame they were pointless in the end.

I would argue that there are very very few truly bad people (your 0.4% serial killer level psychopaths). Everyone else does bad things either because they actually believe they are doing the right thing, or because they have been made suffer horribly and genuinely believe that despite their actions they are the victim. That is why even when we want to do good we have to reflect and hold ourselves accountable because almost all of us desire to do good yet we have the capacity to do such harm as a means to that end.

Very true, the issue with Marvel and DC is that they’re so mainstream that none of the characters really matter. Like if a character dies, they’ll just bring them back. No consequences, in The Boys and Invincible, any character that dies stays dead.

Like, this is easily one of the worst things to happen to the company (compound V being revealed to the public) and he isnt even breaking a sweat. A train is really annoying here. There's a deleted scene that shows how financially irresponsible he is, and yet, here he is complaining about how people who grew up with money are the only ones that don't care about money. He acts like growing up poor lends him a moral superiority, but his attitude toward money just further underlines his carelessness and lack of respect.

Vought created these supes, gave parents enough money to overlook any ethical/moral objections and inject their kids with compound V. Then gave them no guidance or even misguidance in their upbringing, giving children powers that can seriously hurt people. As far as we can tell just let the parents go with basically WMD's in kids bodies and expecting them to know how to raise them. Some of the supes like starlight were even made to go onto those super kid pageants by their parents, would you expect the average parent to raise a super powered brat into becoming a well functioning person. Homelander is the worst example, Vaughts Frankenstein. Stan Edgar inherited this system when he became CEO, creating kids with god powers then offering little to no guidance, and Stan even looks down on them for how they turned out. It's all just evil

Even now and then, under all the absurdity and and evilness of the characters, the show will detail layers about them. I think about how its implied Homelander can smell all humans. He probably spends everyday wishing he could plug his nose because everyone odors like a wet dog to him. Thinking about how the Deep, no matter where he goes, has to listen to all fish crying for help. Not only can he not help them, he has to be complacent with their consumption, torture and abuse.
