The way Onomatopoeia is portrayed here is interesting. He watches Batman beatdown his men like it’s nothing and all he does is tilted his head, and seemingly changing positions to get a better look at the fights. Once he finally fights Batman, he starts avoiding Batman’s attacks with ease and uses the environment to benefit in the fight (something that Batman did to his men). Onomatopoeia studied the Batman, so he could fight the Batman.

Something more interesting is the fact Onomatopoeia must say the words before he does any action like throwing a punch or kicking but afterwords Batman finds out his weakness as and hits him in the throat and punches him giving me the idea that Onomatopoeia has some sort of mental illness that causes him to say what he’s gonna do like an action

It's a little bit more complicated than that. The allure of Onomatopoeia in the comic is you have no idea if he's just mimicking the sounds or if he's actually somehow recreating the exact audio. It gives him this slight supernatural edge to him that makes him a lot creepier.

I always thought Onomatopoeia was an underrated villain in the comics especially as a Green Arrow villain. I do quite like seeing him in this show and his gimmick of speaking only in verbal onomatopoeia's is really entertaining especially when fighting Batman, plus I really like his design too with the black trenchcoat and hat. I do hope more DC projects use the character maybe in a hypothetical Green Arrow movie or animated show since I also like the idea of him being a serial killer that hunts down non powered vigilantes around the world.

@@Bluesit32 If we're talking about the characters in a meta sense. Rorschach was actually the one based on the Question. To be more accurate, Rorschach was a reply to the first version of the Question of the time (as in the way he's written, I'm not talking about multiverse stuff here) and the themes & philosophies of the stories he was in. It's interesting that the show spent so much of season one building up "realistic" villains like Onomatopoeia and Penguin, with even the more fantastical villains like Clayface being reduced to just having a moldable face instead of the full clay body he's been known for in modern depictions, then proceeded to break that rule by having the Gentleman Ghost and Nocturna appear basically back to back in the end, suddenly bringing in the element of the supernatural and paranormal to an otherwise grounded universe.

A pretty cool portrayal of Onomatopoeia. What would would have been _really_ fascinating is if Onomatopoeia had such high focus and pain tolerance that he can (mockingly) make sounds for Batman's blows, even when he's being beaten up. It would show that Batman's punches aren't really shaking him up much, like how Green Goblin just smiled and laughed, looking Spiderman dead in the eye as he got punched. When he has Batman figured out, he starts calling sound effects *_before_* Batman can make a move, or before he has even punched the guy, as if it's inevitable that he'll land the blow. Then when Batman starts adapting, Onomatopoeia starts getting the sound effects wrong, and out of timing, since he can't predict Batman anymore. His sounds are cut short as Batman's strikes come too fast. Then, when he's finally punched in the throat, he wheezes out a delayed sound effect: "p-pow ..." as if it's really an obsessive compulsive disorder, that he _has_ to make these sound effects even when it's not appropriate. Then, next time he shows up (IF he shows up again), he starts calling out false sounds occasionally to throw off Batman. When Batman gains the upper hand and Onomatopoeia is punch-drunk, Batman simply says 'bang'. Out of sorts and on edge, Onomatopoeia flinches back, trips and is down for the count.

Onomatopoeia always frustrates me because he’s such a cool looking villain, especially in the comics, and I love the fact that he’s a vicious serial killer who focuses on street level superheroes. But then you make him say the action word as the actual action is literally happening and it just becomes silly and redundant. Like his whole existence is just to be a neat visual when reading comics, and while that is a fun lil on-the-nose idea, I feel like that’s such a waste for such a badass looking character. That’s something I would expect for crazy quilt or condiment king, not dc’s answer to bullseye ya kno? 💀 (tho ig dead shot would actually be dc’s bullseye), but I mean more so in the viscous aspect

Among the versions Onomatopoeia had (specially that sick live action one), I've never seen him like, shooting by saying *bang* but without a gun. If he makes the sound of "ratatata" for instance, he could shoot without a gun. It's a concept I've only seen in Inuyashiki so far, and this kind of idea would suit him greatly here. @@mayotango1317 No he doesn't. In the comics, they had him saying sound effects out loud in place of them putting the actual sound effects next to the action, which is quaint as well as threatening, and only makes sense in that format. When you animate him, he's just a weird dude making sound effects for no reason, unlike the comics. Whether or not he is a legitimate threat is irrelevant because his little speech quirk is a detriment when you give him an actual voice. But, whatever, I don't expect people these days to understand subtle themes. After all, why watch Batman the Animated series for the genius writing when they could just jingle shiny keys in front of our eyes? "OH WOW, IT'S ONOMATOPOEIA!! THEY ANIMATED HIM FOR ONCE SO I'M JUST GOING TO DEFEND HIM WITH MY LIFE!" Also, off topic, the swearing adds nothing to this show. When the phrase "You can go to hell" in Justice League Animated has more impact than a group of random characters dropping F-Bombs for no reason, then you definitely have a show that's doomed to fail.
