"Your ego can't handle it" is actually a very smart thing to say to Homelander. Because if he kills her out of pettiness then he admits he's got an ego problem. And his ego would never allow himself to be proven wrong.

This is one part of The Boys universe that I never understood. Sups like Sage and Mesmer have powers that any think-tank, private R&D company or 3-letter agency would greatly value and would get into a bidding war over them. And yet when we see sups like this they are always one step above the poverty line. The value of sups like Blue Hawk or Gunpowder is nothing beyond better muscle, but Sage and Mesmer's talents are priceless.

Boredom probably. Spending all of your time doing one thing, and waiting on bottlenecks in the process (Gotta order some lab equipment? That'll be 4 months) canbe super boring to people that have extremely active minds. Or maybe she doesn't want to work for people who will use her as a tool. A train comes to mind, dude was so fearful of losing being number one speedster in season one and for what? he made his millions, stared in multiple movies, has his own merch line the works. but he acts like if he fucks up and fails once! he will lose it all and become just like his secret girlfriend poor and destitute. he might be right to fear that happening

I just realized that Homelander said "like Caeser," and Sage didn't correct him. Caeser famously was stabbed in the back before he could completely take over. Augustus was the emperor who swooped in, declared himself emperor after defeating Cleopatra and subsuming Egypt into the Roman Empire. This may be a reference to that. Baring the comics, this line suggests Sage is probably going to act like Cleopatra in this narrative: smarter than every man in the room and able to win over the masses, but may eventually fall. Homelander will likely be Caeser, the man who tries to make himself into an emperor but dies before that can happen.

Augustus had tact. A beautiful trait which enabled the senate to do what it would never have done: made him emperor. Rome for a long while was a republic because in the past they endured bad kings. Hence why Julius Caesar was killed. Caesar wanted to be king. Consuls were elected to rule for 1 year.
@Light-20
@Light-20 5 ай бұрын
Homelander also talks about leaving a legacy to his son. Augustus (Or Octavian at the time) was the legal son and heir of Caesar. Caesar set the foundation for Augustus' Principate. And in light of the finale and Ryan being more like Homelander, this makes more sense that Ryan would be Augustus and Homelander be like Caesar.

She proved she's actually the smartest person around by having the intelligence to perfectly handle Homelander without getting destroyed. When Homelander complained about everyone being a yes man, it wasn't because he didn't actually want that. He's a giant toddler but has the pretense of being above everyone else. So what he actually wants is a yes man who knows how to dress up their acquiescence so it's not quite as obvious. And here's Sage, in the end she just tells him mostly what he wants to hear, but throws in enough light jabs to successfully create the veneer that she's giving him the "hard truth" when in reality it's just more bullshit. The perfect play for dealing with a godlike manchild.

The fact Sage is living as middle class not as Tony Stark is the greatest bid of commentary I’ve ever seen. Which is that having knowledge and applying knowledge are two very different things. Sage is intelligent but has no marketable skills. She has intelligence but is unable to apply it to anything. Science, technology, chemistry, mechanics, physics, all things that she could have been famous for, but she isn’t even able to apply her brain to it. So she has nothing. No job because she can’t get one, no house because she can’t afford one, no friends because nobody likes a know it all, all she has is her mouth and mind. But if either were lost, she’ll be nothing. And she knows it. Also I love how Homelander shows that he is smart by getting her to join him with just a few sentences. Homelander may see humans as lesser but he understands their nature and how to use it to his advantage.

Because he is smart enough to realize even though he is smart in some ways he is not a genius and he put aside his ego just enough to look for help, and also she is a fellow super and she has enough courage to stand up to him and enough brains to know he could just decide to kill her and she can't stop him. Altogether she also proved useful and so homelander at least respects that and co workers are either to persuade with some niceness and dignity.

@@Emperorgonzo1I like to think Homelander can also guess at what Sage wants. She is the smartest person in the world who must lobotomoze herself to be somewhat normal for a couple hours. Homelander has spent decades selling the masses on fake heroism. He is well aware of how dumb the average person is and knows Sage must be suffering that much more. "Help me rule over the ants, sister." and all that.

Having not seen this show before, this is a really good way to introduce a character. In the first few seconds, we already know so much about her. Her first line “I’m almost never surprised”, reveals a little bit about her personality. Also, that last line from Homelander about testing her theories on a global scale just shows how good he is at manipulating people. Might just go and binge this.

Diabolicals Factory ‘Save’ was going pretty well and still could’ve being salvaged if those Idiots kept the f quiet. He did get a Great Quick Job in Syria and has shown Extraordinary skill with his Lasers. He can also Box and keep up with Seasoned Veterans when they were close to his Level. Even the failed saves showed him being quite Competent. It’s mostly other people’s fuckups that ruin everything. I think Sometimes people just forget that Vought, A Multi-Billion Dollar Conglomerate, Raised Homelander to be a Very Efficient Machine. A manchild sure, but skilled nonetheless. He’s smart too.
