First time I hear the superblast being quoted as a cheaper shoe, but I do love it. As for the Prime X I have issues with the fit, gives me blisters in the heel, same for Pro 3, hope the X 2 will be better but I'll wait for a steep discount before considering it.

Even though I commented it elsewhere that I absolutely hate the increased weight and stuff. I did jump in immediately and ordered a pair. Just because I like the original so much and I'd really like the idea of added stability to the original. I wouldn't mind it being used for long and easy runs as long as it's gonna be about as enjoyable as a ride from the original despite a bit of weight. After all, I used to run obstacle courses in waterproof full leather boots that are much more heavier and hotter back in my army days.

The bad boys arrived today, had a short run with it, very stable shoes compares to the previous one, bouncy and it a bit firmer too,seems the weight not affecting me yet, I will take it out for a long run to see the weight will be the downside. Overall lots of improvements outweight the old one. 😊

The weight of the Prime X 2 terrifies me. I thought your love of Light Strike Pro on my long run today. The Adios Pro 3 gets better the more miles you put in it. The shoe felt superb after 20 steady miles. After 200 miles in the shoe is fantastic.

Thanks for the shout out - proves I watched the whole vid :) Yeah odd that the red one does not allow discount codes on adidas UK but the blue one does. However, the red one is the only one available in my size UK 13.5/US 14 and TBH that was a pleasant surprise as the 1st Strung version never appeared in my size although I do have the OG Prime X. That OG was already 380g for me (compared to about 280g in an Adios Pro 3 or 255g in a Vaporfly 3) so the Prime X would never be my choice for a race but found it rolled well and I did a 23 mile training run in it and several other longish runs. I "fear" the weight in the X2 might beat my "record" of around 450g for a running shoe. Normally that would of course be a huge turnoff but FOMO took over here. Also the Superblast does not come in my size either so sometimes need to take what I can. If it rolls as good or better than the OG then well at least when I put on an actual race shoe they will very light.

If I recall the strung v1 was a shade around 300g for me. Bit lighter than the original. Will be interesting to see what the v2 is like. Low expectations right now.

Will be interested in your Review, Tim, as my feet seem to be almost as long as yours. Sometimes a US 13 in adidas works for me, but I am currently running the AAA3 in US 14. Bit surprised big sports companies seem to believe the running shoe market for bigger feet is too small to be catered for when I never have problems finding casual or even business shoes in my size (which of course is at least one size smaller than my running shoe size, as for most people).

I've watched believe in the run review and they have issues with weight. I might buy this but maybe next year as I just got a discounted version 1. The stability issue of v1 did not matter as I got used to it after about 7km to 8km of my first run and I agree that v1 is really enjoyable to run without much tiredness.

The Prime x platform is a development platform for Adidas. Not a serious shoe that they really care about. So it’s going to drastically change version to version and it’s sold so they can get lots of feedback and data on whatever technology they are trying out in it. This one however, I think, is a preview of the future of Adidas. It’s going to be interesting how much of this tech they manage to bring into the Adios Pro series.

Late to the party but finally got the X Strung. It is the best shoe I’ve ever run in. A bit tippy but not nothing to worry about - it just forced me to stay alert to my form which is a bonus. But….after my second run last week if 8 miles it looks like the exposed stitching in the heel has ripped into my Achilles. I don’t think I’ve ever had a shoe do this and not sure what to do to prevent it. I was wearing high enough socks and I’d also taped my heel due to sensing a hot sport there in my shorter first run. And it still managed to get in there and break the skin. I hope I can overcome this as I love this shoe.

@@matthanna1980 that’s a relief - I may do the same in that case. I’ve looked at lots of images of the shoes and it’s clearly not a manufacturing error. Loved the V1 of the Prime X and is my go-to mile muncher. Finally bought the strung version last week for £144 with a club discount, going down half a size the fit is much more dialed in with that strung upper. I'm disappointed they've changed the outsole in the V2, as I think thats the key to it being such a versatile and durable shoe. With 220 miles in my V1's, i've got another 100 miles or so in them. I dont think that smooth outsole will be as durable........perhaps they've made the V1 too good?? I'd be more interested to see if they incorporate any of the tech in the Adios Pro 4 when that drops. Will definitely pick that up when it does, but I can't see myself picking up this shoe, I've got way too many miles to run yet in the V1's. Cant wait to see how you run with it Ed, your reviews are always highly valued and accurate 👍🏻

As someone who exclusively runs in the Prime X (yes, for both training and racing), I'm excited to get these in my grubby little paws. Ordered mine yesterday (in the USA). @@EDDBUD My original pair weighs in at 292g and the V2 weighs in at 338g so roughly the same as you. I'm 58 so 46g/1.6 oz isn't all that bad as running shoes were a lot heavier in my youth. 😎 Again, I'm liking the wider heel. I fell last year during the Chicago Marathon wearing the V1s (still got a PR & BQ 😜) and it was definitely related to the stability of the shoe. It's bloody hot here so I won't get in these until next week. One thing I really like is the laces are back down further like the original. Better for my AA foot. The Strung V1 just didn't fit right and I never got a lock down like the V1. P.S. Curious to hear your review!

I have a pair of these. While yes, holding it they are heavy. Running in them though, personally I don’t really feel it. For me they are strong going up hills, my legs and knees feel good after runs. The one piece tongue though ( if you have them tied tight) is a little uncomfortable on the upper part of the foot. Wear some socks that cover the heel of your ankles. It cut into the back and was bleeding. And my right side shoe always seems to come very loose

I just ordered a pair of the Adidas Prime X Strung V1 from Adidas, and it was a little over $300 dollars. Price is going up now for the V1 because of all of the negative reviews that the Strung 2 has. I was lucky to get it in my size. Here in the States there's practically nothing left of the Strung V1. I even saw a price tag of $747 dollars on the internet, which makes me actually feel that I got a bargain getting it for $300 dollars.

Late to the game, but just got mine today as I bought them on discount. First impressions... a heavier and slightly firmer super trainer that's faster than it should be for it's weight. I did the box to 5k test and they felt amazing. Are they worth 300 us dollars....no..... but I paid 200 and for how they feel and fit me it was money well spent. I'm a heavy runner, and not super fast. They support my weight and feel pretty stable, great trainer to accompany my Alpha Fly 3 and keep the miles off those until race day. I found I'm nearly as fast in these as I am the alphafly which caught me off guard. I think they are a great trainer for heavier guys like me who want to experience a super shoe that's durable, but not at 300 dolkars... wait for the sales to hit.

@@EDDBUD will do for sure. I did a 10k in them today and unfortunately formed some blisters on my Achilles. Part of it was my own fault, I don't think I was toeing off enough at mile 5 and 6, and got a slight bit of heel slip. It was probably my pace and the wrong sock choice. PB'd my 5k time though. Shoe "legality" itself is an arbitrary construct decided according the configuration of the top supershoe at the time. My take is as long as it does not have an active power source it should be eligible for any competition. If you put too much stuff in it will suffer in terms of weight and stability anyway so it's still about finding the balance.

Prime X has a too snug fit and it’s too much pressure . Also after kilometer 22 I really felt the weight . And “damage” after the run is that my legs are really sore and under the right big toe I had lots of rubbing . The front seems to low for my feet . Upper on the prime x strung was so much better for me . Maybe I will go ahead and use 5 socks and a hairdryer to get more Volumen in the front . Anyways that’s my feedback . Nice shoe but heavy+rubbing+all over tightness . Cheers

Reading between the lines all the positives they mentioned just happen to be all the things the shoe is supposed to do and what it's designed for, the downside was the weight increase making it not a great race day shoe ...but... Been reading and seeing a lot of mixed reviews about this v2 and how it's a step backwards from v1. I think it was way too hyped up by the guys at BITR after a few jaunts in the aisles of the TRE and got the v1 lovers - like me! - to have unrealistic expectations. Well, I'm not expecting the PX2S to be the v1 on steroids that is even lighter, faster, more propulsive, springier, bouncier, etc. I shouldn't pass judgment until I've tried it out for myself, which I'll do in about a week as I have it on order now, but it's obvious that it's a different kind of shoe from v1 just based on its weight and width of the midsole at the heel. I've read all the negative reviews of the folks at the Reddit sub as well as the BITR review and the consensus seems to be that it really is a step backwards from v1. I'll have to try it and decide if it works for me or not, but I have a feeling that it will as an easier-pace long-distance cruiser, which I would welcome in my collection/rotation. To me, the v1 is great for virtually everything but for running easy and slow. The v1 is, by far, my favorite road running shoe and I own six pairs so you could say I'm a PXS fanatic. Haha. I don't think I've run into anyone yet who has more. This being said, the v1 is not my choice for easy cruising as it virtually forces me to pick up the pace even when I don't want to. When I lace up the v1, it's with a long run at moderate to fast pace in mind (6'45"~8'30"/mile pace for me). For easy and slow cruising (9'~10'/mile), I have many other choices: Nimbus 25, ForeverRun, SC Trainer, Triumph 21, GlideRide 3, More v4, and Invincible Run 2. The thing about these aforementioned easy/recovery/slow shoes is that I don't want to go more than 10 miles with them because they are either too heavy or just not that fun for such distances or both. Maybe - just maybe - the PX2S can be that easy pace long run shoe that is also fun over 15~20 mile runs. Based on what I've seen, I think it can be that kind of shoe although it's on the heavy side. But, if the weight is at around the SC Trainer or More v4 which it seems to be, and is more propulsive and springier with improved stability at the heel, I can see it working out for the long runs. There are some positive reviews of v2 with a few even saying that they like it even more than v1, but definitely much less than the negative reviews with comments about how heavy and firm it is, etc. Well, I'll just have to try for myself and see if it'll be that kind of shoe that I'm now hoping it will be. What's obvious now is that it's a different kind of shoe from v1. In a way, I'm kind of relieved that my hoarding of the v1 turned out to be a good investment since it has now established itself as a "cult classic". Haha. I figure I still have at least a few thousand miles left in the multiple pairs I have. For me, there's just no other shoe like it - not even close in terms of pure enjoyment and exciting fun factor.

@@matthanna1980 Yeah, kind of nuts, I know. I got the first pair almost as soon as it came out at full price and was totally blown away. Then, strangely, so soon after the release, Adidas had it on 50%-off sale promos on and off in the US for extended periods during the winter, so I hoarded four pairs and thought I was done. Then, a few months later, they came out with the non-dyed agdyed was even better and I had to get it. I hope Adidas restocks it and lowers the price but probably won't happen. Really looking forward to the PX2S even though it seems to be a completely different kind of shoe, which is fine with me. The Doctors of Running just published a review and it confirms exactly what I'm envisioning it to be.

Funny - in the UK I picked up 2 pairs when a retailer had them at half price. Then @timgrose had another pair up for sale due to being a touch on the small side. Seeing as I'd done one run in the new pair (and loved them!) I helped Tim free up some space and bought his... they hadn't done many miles and I've since clocked up more than 600km in them. Not sure about the V2 yet, as a UK12.5 will be very heavy. Had I smaller feet I'd probably not hesitate. Saying that, if they end up at 50% I'll probably get some as I'm a sucker for lightstrike pro (as an example, I just bought another pair of Adios Pro 2 because they were less than half price!).

Actually I just did run a 8 k with the prime x 2 and I must say the step in feel was boring and in hands it felt like a stone. - then I saw how efficient it did perform over the 8 k . Absolutely effort less. Average 6-8 beats lower with the same speed as Alphafly 2 . Also it’s way more stable than the prime x strung . Only I still fight with the lockdown .. not sure what socks and if I should use the runners knot. - tomorrow I will run my longest marathon prep run (32 k) . After this I will know more . One issue that i do wonder about regarding all these super shoes and the various foams and whatnot....is that if they are genuinely enhancing an athlete's performance.....as in genuinely making them run faster or better than they would without them.....then what is the difference between using these shoes vs steroids? Obviously im referring to competitive professional athletes and competitions (Olympics and the like). Because it seems to be that if anything being used is effectively artificially enhancing an athletes performance and its something not available to everyone (all pro athletes dont wear the same shoes nor can afford to) then how is it a level playing field? You may as well just allow the use of steroids then. 🤷🤷🤷
@joewillburn
@joewillburn 11 ай бұрын
All sports have technology that makes more things possible. Pole Vault went to carbon polls, bikes yo carbon Fibre and disc brakes, tracks to new spingy surfaces, tennis from graphite to carbon, all improve athlete ability. Why should running be any different?
@Sabundy
@Sabundy 11 ай бұрын
@@joewillburn sure, but you are missing my point. I'm not arguing against the use of these things. I'm simply pointing out the silliness of how one thing is allowed and the other not. Even though both are doing the same thing. Using your example there is the same argument that if a very expensive bike makes an athlete perform notably better then also what's the difference if athletes use any performance enhancer such as steroids? Cycling is somewhat different from running in that it's an equipment reliant sport. You can't cycle without a bike now can you? But you can still run even without shoes. And running has generally been a far more level playing field compared to sports that require expensive equipment. But that's obviously now changing with super shoes. But what I'm saying holds water simply because of the FACTS that certain shoes have been banned. Why? Or look how world swimming has banned certain swimsuits because they give too much of an advantage. So clearly the governing bodies of various sports are admitting that performance is being boosted too much. And these things tend to be expensive. So you can easily see the problem. It removes any semblance of a level playing field and instead makes it about who has the money to buy the most expensive equipment. It's partly why they don't allow steroids (even though they are widely used in most sports). Because it turns sports into little more than arms races in terms of who can afford the most expensive performance enhancer more than it's about cheating per se. My only point is that if an athlete can enhance their performance with expensive specialised equipment.....that not every athlete can afford and thus there is not a level playing field.....then why not just allow steroid usage? It's basically kabuki theatre to pretend that there is a level playing field and act as if not allowing performance enhancing substances creates a level playing field when athletes can just enhance their performance with expensive specialised equipment.
