I DIDN'T TURN OFF THE COMMENTS, KZbin DID!
as the title suggests, this is a video of when a Primitive Forest Tribe Meets Modern Man for the First Time. white people ruin everything.
It is the Toulambi tribe (The Angu or Änga people, also called Kukukuku) from
Country/Region: Papua, New Guinea.
Continent: Oceania (Australia)
Year: 1993 (1976?)
After research, i have found some information (or lack there of).
It IS possible that parts of this tribe have had contact with outsiders between 1920-1980, but there's no telling if the particular group in this video has ever seen modern man. It is clear (assuming the footage is real) that they have never seen a white man before (the way they touch him to see if he's real) and that they have not seen the modern tools he shows them. If they did have contact with the outside, it would have most likely been many years apart, possibly decades. So, not all members from that time period would still be alive. If fake, it's extremely well done. Very interesting regardless. ENJOY!!!
Update: Jan 1, 2023(happy new year!)
Found this clip with a guy on JR claiming the members of a semi-isolated tribe never met a white man before. • JRE: Native Tribes of ... of course they met Spaniards decades ago but no living member has met a white man.

True. It's an incredibly rare moment of exchange between two worlds, one of which has almost disappeared. It makes us rethink racism, tribalism, etc. and points to a larger humanity.

Some real bravery on display here. The visitor was incredibly calm, and must have projected that well. But can you imagine the bravery it took for these tribesmen to approach this light-skinned and blonde man with weird clothes and hat on, with a bunch of unidentifiable objects? I wish there was a way to understand what their emotions were that day. Thank you for this video. It’s remarkable, and an experience that will continue to become less and less likely as time moves on.

It's beautiful to feel such a connection to the feeling of the skin part on such a primitive level, how the human side was everything, instinctive, and the difference in appearance was intriguing and fascinating rather than polarizing and debilitating. So much to learn from this-> Its ok to feel awkward, its about purity of kindness thats so... required for this level of communication and understanding to happen. I wish we could cultivate videos like this and present them to all our youth. It would help us nurture kindness so much more.

At first i really disliked this man contacting the tribe. But after watching him, and the tribe interact with each other my mindset changed. The way he wanted to learn their language. And to give them medicine. Then they sang him a farewell song. THEN after the tribe crossed the bridge, the bridge was swept away. That seems symbolic to me. The fucking feels, man.

casey what’s the need for a complex language when all they do is try to survive, find food, and procreate. Plus as a woman I’ll be sorta protected with the other women and children. I’ve lived my childhood without WiFi or computers in D.R where the lights go off for hours, definitely still a way more privileged life than these people since we had agriculture, farming, culture, music, and most technology. Only the rich had computers really in the early 2000s. I know I can go without any electronics because I have before. PERSONALLY I wouldn’t mind that lifestyle, if I was born into it, or accepted into a tribe. It’s okay if you don’t relate, everyone is different.

@dougscott170
@dougscott170 2 жыл бұрын
Back in those days the word "savage" did not necessarily have the connotations of cruelty now associated with it. Instead, as an adjective, it could as easily mean "wild", as in a wildflower. You are essentially suffering from presentism, where you are using modern day moral standards or views onto people of the past who did not hold those views. For example: The term " Noble Savage" was first used in a 1609 travelogue about Canada by the French explorer Marc Lescarbot, in which there was a chapter with the heading: "The Savages are Truly Noble", meaning simply that they enjoyed the right to hunt game, a privilege in France granted only to hereditary aristocrats. Essentially stating wild men are free (wild) and have a privilege not available to regular people.
@ericastier1646
@ericastier1646 23 күн бұрын
The big point you are missing is that has always been the French attitude at meeting other civilization. It's the english who systematically treated them as savages. Do a history search you will see but keep in mind tracks have been erased. The same thing happened in america. French and Indians had a level relation until the english turned indians against indians against French.
