Should do clay roof's for future structures, and use a bamboo gutter system to bring the rainwater to the tank.

Or to the water filter tank, since that water will have lots of dust and leaves on it from the roof.

if the structure fails it might suck to have clay above you instead of something lighter

What I’m finding so very interesting is that he is using modern standards and developments, and doing it all with primitive technology, and an adjustment in work and time to do the project. For preppers, he is teaching us good lessons in what is actually possible to accomplish. Living very comfortably with amenities we are accustomed to today. He is also demonstrating just how great civilizations were able to build large cities without mechanization as we have today. At the same time he is also demonstrating the foundation to our inventions of the past 10,000 yrs. (I hope I’m able to make clear what I was trying to say in as few words a possible)

This rain-collector on a high position is a great idea. Eventually you could build a shower - clean water with some pressure behind it: You are making your primitiv life more and more comfortable. Great to see :)

frankohero I do not think this is a good idea, that tank could become into mosquitoes nest sooner than later, even with something that protect it from the debris it will eventually torn into something poisonous

@Rosiel: Thank you for replying. If there is a bigger rain-water-collecting-space, it doesn´t make the situation worse, I believe. My guess: If that collecting-space is more stable, then the maitenance will be a bit easyer. An additional opening to avoid overflow might be helpfull.

You should build an underground cold food storage next. It's a structure capable of keeping food cool, even during the hot months. It's made out of stone and set somewhat underground to keep food colder.
@leafgreenbeast
@leafgreenbeast 6 жыл бұрын
you may wanna build a windbreak for that, since it a big storm happens it may topple over. i'd hate to see your work wasted! edit: you may also want to make some sort of net or cage around the exit pipe so that only water goes through it, since the pipe may become clogged with fallen leaves or other debris

A nice water tank. I am concerned that your concrete funnel and the bottom of the tank will crack and fall apart as the underlying bamboo supports age and decay. Concrete is strong against compression, but is weak under tension.

might have been a good idea to add a foundation underneath the tank. With rain the dirt under the tank legs can get washed away and the whole structure would collapse

Thanks for your amazing videos! So, when you are building those columns, and maybe it doesn't matter, but have you consider using some kind of guide to help you get the columns straight? Again, it's more aesthetic, the looks, than the purpose. And I'm going away from the survival deal. But maybe using bamboos along the columns might help get them super straight instead of just using visual insight.

@MsHojat

I think the point is that it is intended to hold more water than that at all times anyway (by plugging the spout), so that's not much issue, since "all" the water is going to be "stagnant". However if they cycle the water frequently enough it might not get too dirty. That said, they couldn't ever easily drain the water for cleaning, so it is still a bit of a problem. That said, there's worse issues with the tower in that it seems like it could break quite quickly in various different ways, and overall will need a complete redesign.
