Primitive Skills ALONE & OFF GRID - Outdoor Bamboo Shower, part 1 | Sourdough Bread | My Baby's 1st Steps - Ep. 165 • PRIMITIVE SKILLS - OUT...
#OffGrid #Yurt #Shower #Firewood #Bread #Bushcraft #Chainsaw #OffTheGrid #Gardening #alone
We spend Christmas alone in our forest Yurt in the forest. For the New Year we take our son Fox to the same mountain Jake Mace was raised on in British Columbia. Jake and Nicolle escape to our "bug out" location to plant more fruit trees and garden while building a tropical outdoor bamboo shower. We are filing our design for building permit for our off grid home and until we have it and open permit we will be turning our bug out property in a tropical climate into an edible garden of eden and food forest! At the end of this episode....will Fox take his first steps alone before his first birthday?

Love this video 😍 Jake, you are such an amazing Provider for your family. Alpha Male, In my opinion... The way you take care of your family by, foraging, spear fishing for your meals and then cooking those meals into incredible masterpieces! Also, chopping the trees, cutting the wood and stacking it, to then be used by warming your home and family and using that wood to heat the oven and Wok to feed your family... I have NEVER BEEN MORE IMPRESSED... AND NICOLE, YOU ARE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SPIRIT... AN AMAZING MOTHER AND PARTNER TO FOX AND JAKE... YOUR knowledge of Wildlife and plants is Incredible ❤️ And how you Use these God Giving natural resources to make your meals, and teas and down to the dyes that you create for clothes❤️ You Are A Goddess... Both of you Amaze me every episode and What Incredible Parents that you are to FOX🙏 FOX Is THRIVING Because of his Wonderful Parents... He is the most Amazing, Engaged, Smiley, Happy, Present, Sweet , Blossoming, LOVED LITTLE BOY I HAVE EVER SEEN ❤️ WELL DONE, JAKE AND NICOLE.... WISHING YOU ALL SO MUCH LOVE AND SO MANY BLESSINGS 🙏❤️🙏

Nicole - I could totally feel the the excitement you got out of enjoying your homemade bread. I love that feeling. When you work so hard to try something new and it comes out perfect - there is no greater feeling!!! So worth all the trials and errors. I often feel this way when gardening and actually growing something new that I can feed my family with! So satisfying! Little Fox is getting so big and must be the absolute happiest baby ever! He has the most infectious smile! And his little giggles are so sweet!!! Jake- you were as excited about that ice as Fox seemed to be. Isn’t amazing when they make you feel like a kid again! Absolutely georgeous. What a nice way to live for a family. What a smart little child. For a child it must be absolutely beautiful to grow up like this. I know, kids usually adept to everything, are very resilient, so they make a great childhood for themselves out of living in a concrete box in the middle of the city. But this, the way you wake up, the relaxed and "slow" environment, that is totally nice. It just would be nice, if there would be a whole village around you three, so that the small one could socialise with other small kids, play in the garden and later the forest with them... I remember when I was small, we had large corn fields not far from our house, where we kids would play. Completely on our own, noone watching us, all day long. Nowadays this would be almost impossible if you live in a city. Neighbours would look at you with a shrewed grin and call the police and shout "neglect" afterwards. Anyhow. What I want to say: Wonderful to watch your video! PS: I wrote the above, before minute 11, when Nicolle talks about pushing the strawler in a city with other moms. But that's what I meant. It would be so much nicer if in our world there would be an option for parents and children to spend the years during which the kids grow up, in the environment you are in now, but together with many more families near by. That is the natural way, that is what humans are hardwired for to grow up (the children as well as the parents during these important years also in their lifes when the children are born and grow up) in my opinion. Not to grow up in cities with all the concrete and lack of freedom for children to explore themselves but in a natural, slowed-down environment where they can have adventures completely without their parents, explore the forests etc. This would prevent so many psychological problems in the children but also in the parents (who also grow while their children grow. Only that while the children grow direction to become parents, the parents grow direction becoming old. And with becoming old we have a huge problem in our societies. I would not be surprised if that had to do with the unnatural way, we often grow up nowadays but also the way we experience our children grow up and how we spend these years). I by far am not a hippie (and not on hippie-level-11, as Jake said in the one video🤣 ). Maybe, in the far future, we can organize our societies in a way that parents can take 15 years off, when they get their first child and move to a small vilage in an environment like the one you are in by now, still be productive, but in a relaxed way - this should be possible in times of the internet and online conferences etc. Or, if someone is more the physical type of worker, then have the corresponding jobs nearby. But nowadays, for the majority of people, even if they wanted to live the simple life, they have no chance to escape the stinky citiy where their badly paid jobs are at. That's the way things are actually and it just so happens that nowadays the badly paid jobs are not located in a small village near a forest anymore but in a city full of small conrete boxex with little green. That's how it is in this world, but maybe maybe in the far future, when the world is far enough as a whole then humanity might be able to orgnaize things. While a government that organizes things in such a scale would be a horror nowadays, in a future where the world has grown together far enough to make it possible, maybe then one can start to reorganize certain things so that something like that - a "Brave New World"-esque society without the bad things - might be possible without throwing humanity into a communist-fascist-whatever-like state of over-control and supervision by a government....

Fox is a blessing for you two. He is bright and seems to be growing up observing and learning well. He sees what you do and takes it all in. Very good that he is walking though you now have to be vigilant about his safety while he is a toddler and probably beyond a bit on the homesteads. Won't be much longer for the stroller and yes, it is "Mom fitness"! Blessings to you three!

Seeing the wind move the trees in the Canadian homestead, then watching the bamboo sway & dance at the tropical homestead had such a perfect symmetry, poetry in motion. This episode could have been called circles....the completion of a circle at Whistler, Fox's 1 year birthday milestone, The toy box great grandpa made first for Mom, now for Fox, From jam on homemade bread to new future food Forrest of fruits and durians! The beauty of balance is full circle and it stirs the watchers to motion of their next dreams to become a closed loop of energy as a petal in the flower of life. There's always something else to learn watching your beautiful family. Thank you. 🌺🌼🏵️🌸 Peace & blessings.

Nicole, that bread was great energy! It was fun watching you devour and relish it. Fox is a delightful soul: what a blessed family you have all become.

Hi hypergigs - I have borrowed a lot from Jake and NIcole and all their methods are very good ones. Have fun creating your hugelkultur raised beds. This mound method really works and a small moat around each one helps water retention.

I never understood the who.e gotta whisper thing around a baby. I ran a vacuum, talked, phone rang, sirens went by etc. and my twins slept through all of it. The key is not being quiet around them from the beginning.

I got the room quiet, but told everyone outside of that room to carry on as normal. Music blasting and all. They would look at me crazy. Lol. I would tell them, it won't bother her if she falls asleep to it. After I emerged from her bedroom, they would be in shock! I could even open her bedroom door every 15 minutes to peep in
