My dad knew Primo Ramos and he was always talked about that power he had in that hook. He was little but if you come right at him he could lay you out

Randall had already face Edwin Rosario the best puncher in the 135 division so for him to get destroyed by Primo Ramos like that was something spectacular

Lol. He recovered to win two world titles including dropping Chavez. Ramos remained a journeyman the rest of his career Many great fighters have had a bad loss and came back. Randal is a prime example.

I don't know if Randel was overrated but he certainly had an inflated record early on. Ramos is underrated that's for sure... It's a shame he didn't get any bigger fights.

@@ClassicBoxingMatches Ramos got some fights. He fought Meldrick Taylor after this and lost. He lost several fights before this to decent but not top rated fighters. Melvin Paul is one example.I wouldnt really call Randalls early record overinflated. The loss and draw were a close decision to Edwin Rosario and a draw with Freddie Pendleton. Rosario was between titles and Pendleton had kod Roger Maweather shortly before facing Randall. Randall actually deserved a title shot around late 86 or early 87. He proved he was top 10 material in the Rosario fight in 85. The crushing loss to Ramos, while really an abberation ie kind of a fluke, could have ruined Randalls comfidence but he soldered on and his true worth as a fighter shown through in the 1993=1995 time frame

@@phelpsmarc Ramos was a good boxer, a gave a good challenge to Taylor twice. Ramos best years were from 1984 to 1988. But the only one that gave him.a world title fight was Meldrick Taylor twice. When this fight happened, Ramos had more experience than Randall. In 87, Ramos was on top of his game, while Randall was still developing. The WBC never really gave Ramos a chance. Camacho, Rosario, Ramirez never gave him.a shot. He said once that the Chavez camp offered him.a title shot but Don King wanted to pay him very little so he declined the fight.
