Primus was my first concert. It 1993 and used his upright bass. I thought the bass was I to break he was jamming so hard. And at the end of it came "We are Primus and we suck". My favorite concert ever.

Does anyone else miss his old school glassy jazz bassy tone? The new tone is cool and all. It lends itself well to a lot of their old songs. But it's so different.
@Nightfall954 жыл бұрын
I agree, miss this tone as well. The new tone is pretty cool and fits the direction of his playing now, but I completely miss this sound. It just lulls you into another state of bliss. Modeled my bass tone after this one from these tours in 03/04

I saw them in April '94 with Rush... Fucking AMAZING SHOW. both bands were excellent! I was about 16 at the time. They played in Chicago (Rosemont, IL actually). When Rush was playing YYZ, at the end of the song, Neil Pert threw his drumsticks into the crowd, and one landed right under my seat...it was really dark, and I was trying my damnedest to find it, but in my haste, I accidentally knocked the drumstick to the row behind me, and a guy twice my size and age ended up getting it, but it was fair, as he was the first one to pick it up. It's not like he grabbed it out of my hands, so I couldn't really be mad at him...I was mostly just mad at myself! Either way, it was one of the very best shows I have EVER been to!!

I 2nd that. Also I love the section from 4:33 where you start hearing the bands dynamics shift then at 4:55 Les Claypool drops that groove down out of nowhere. I remember my jaw dropping when it hit at the show. It was beautifully improv . Primus at an apex.

Primus live shows are just awesome. Almost every song you know is going to be performed waay differently! Where did you get these recordings? I have always been looking for one of them.

Ah! The days when Les bass sound didn't sound absolutely fucking horrendous.
@nuke974 жыл бұрын
I have to admit Im not a fan of Les's sound with the new bass and rig. The band sounded its best during the Tour de fromage and the hallucinogenetics tour. Also Ler still had a big rock sound that wasn't super twangy. Marshall and Vox amps with PRS guitars please come back!

@nuke974 жыл бұрын
@@Logielogie44 talking about Ler. Claypool was rocking AMPEG amps with two 15's and two 4x10's. During the Tour de Fromage and Hallucinogenetics. His sound had more bottom end with a bit of a high end finish. These days the bulk of his sound comes from full on solid state stuff. More nasal sounding and dry.
