A lot of Primus lyrics are much more serious than they seem. It’s easy to lose them behind the great riffs and psychedelic visuals. Many layers to this band.

For sure, Last Salmon Man is a great example. What a stupid title, but it's this super sad song about a guy watching his family livelihood disolve. Les is great at sucking you in with the silly shit then hitting you with something powerful.

Just want to clarify that while indeed Les has been doing his own solo/side projects for years and still today, PRIMUS is still VERY active. I've seen them 9 times between 2010 and 2019. Twice in one year a couple times. Their most recent album came out in 2017. They just finished a big tour with Slayer. SEE THEM IF YOU GET THE CHANCE! My first show changed my life.

I'm a huge fan of Primus, and I've heard alot of their songs and I'm here to give you some of my recommendations for a possible future video, Sgt. Baker is a really good song, Hamburger Train is the perfect song if you enjoy the Bass cuz it's like 8 straight minutes of pure bass, Riddles are Abound Tonight by Sausage but it's pretty much the same group. I heavily recommend these songs

If you enjoyed this one I think you should check out Jilly's On Smack from the Green Naugahyde album. It's outside the box even for Primus. Les really branches out and gets some trippy sounds out of a bowed upright bass. Their newer albums are sadly overlooked and underrated, but they've still got it. Love watching you react to this band, keep it up!

I've left a few comments but haven't suggested a song. This is my favorite band, I can tell you like the funk aspect of Primus but if I may, a three-piece band that produces huge sound is referred to as a "Power Trio." While Primus is a very funky trio, they are also a very POWERFUL trio. That raw, brutal power is never more evident than on the song Over The Electric Grapevine. I can't think of another trio anywhere, not hendrix, not cream, not OG grand funk railroad--no one matches the power they achieve in that song. Give it a try?

I saw your reactions to the songs from Pink Floyd's "Animals" album... given that you clearly dig Claypool, and you dig Floyd... you need to check out a side Project called Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. Check out Live Frogs [Set 2]. They play the whole Pink Floyd "Animals" album live from start to finish and it's FLAT OUT AMAZING!!!!! @Brian Weber Let me specify. At the time Les was coming up, meth was a hardcore epidemic in Cali, and his dad didn't want him getting caught up in the Meth life. Hence, songs like Harold of the Rocks ... I'm sure they've done their share of other drugs, but, those other drugs are not the same as meth, and that's coming from someone who was in Cali and addicted to meth at age 12, and has done almost every other drug I could get my hands on

If you want more Primus start with the entire Frizzle fry album you cannot go wrong with a single song. And if you want to song 4 review Jilly's on smack off of the green naugahyde album wish I also highly recommend has probably my second favorite behind Frizzle fry unless you just want some old live tracks throw-in suck on this :) keep it up man love the videos!

Old video, but here's a new comment: Primus is easily one of THE bands ever. Helped me through one of the toughest parts of my 40 year old life, and I started to listen to the lyrics. They're more than they seem. They also tought me to really love and appreciate slap bass music ^_^ One of the reasons I actually pursued my old interest in playing the bass as well ^_^
