Out of the hundred or so shows over the last 10 years it remains one of her favorites and opened her up to getting through the odd.

This was why Metallica passed on replacing Cliff Burton with Les Claypool (they settled on Jason Newstead). Metallica spins it as saying they thought Claypool was too good for metal when in fact they were put of by how very and deeply weird his sensibilities were. Claypool is quoted as having said that he got the impression that the band thought he was a freak... which is not wrong! He is really weird.

I've been listening to Primus since Suck On This, love these guys. At some point you might consider checking out Oysterhead, a supergroup consisting of Les from Primus, Trey Anastasio from Phish, and Stewart Copeland from The Police. It's different, but top notch musicianship.

The reason that Primus created such a sound with their music was because they hated the typical industry bands that played between the lines of what the industry wanted them to play! Les is known by many to be the best bassist ever!

Les is certainly up there, particularly with his level of exposure. Few "mainstream" bassist within the last 30years have primarily used fretless over fretted basses, and also sound good slapping on fretless.

The only thing I remember about these guys from back in the day was the bassist was one of the best in the world and you kinda hear it in this song with those slight harmonic sounds created when you slightly touch the string in just the right spot as you pluck the string, kinda like an Eddie Van Halen technique with harmonics. I love everything about this song and video. I used to play this song in my office every day when it first came out, and people would ask me, what the hell are you listening to? Primus is a totally unique band. They are all awesome players. Les Claypool is a different breed of character. I definitely know all the words to this song of double entendres. Their videos are often very strange, but cool. I’ve seen them live over 20 times, from a small bar in San Francisco to Woodstock 94. When they opened for Public Enemy and Anthrax. They’re always great. I wish people could understand his lyrics better, because his lyrics are so good. Extremely clever and often hilarious. It’s a whole vibe.

These guys played at the first concert I ever attended.apocalypse 91 tour, public enemy, Anthrax,primus,and young black teenagers,in vancouver.when this guy took the stage I was like wtf is this weird shit.i was twelve with a few 12 year old friends at a 19plus show.it was a experience all right.i was a huge PE fan .I bought the tape and day after the concert I introduced Seth Rogen to public enemy and years later he put a song I listened to on repeat with him in pinnapple express .life's crazy when you take a minute to reflect

I have always loved Primus, but it wasn’t until I really paid attention to just how difficult each part is to play (bass, guitar, and drums) that I started to really appreciate what they are doing. Then my love for them went even deeper when I watched some interviews and learned just how intentional they are in trying to come up with music that is unique and challenges musicality norms. I think of them as an acquired taste, the more you listen the more you appreciate because no matter how many times I have listened to a Primus song I find something new each time I listen to a song. BTW: Interesting fact… Les Claypool went to high school with Kirk Hammett (Metallica lead guitarist) and originally was supposed to be the bass player for Metallica but wanted to do something more “creative”.

incredible talent and creativity with the bass..that said, can't recommend many primus songs but this one is pretty catchy.😉

It's funny because they're entranced with the weirdness of the video. Primus is like a trip it can hit people wrong if they're not guided or accompanied right lol.
