Great reaction. These are the type of tunes that grow on you. Aside from "How come you don't call me" they are just fun tracks, that why they were b sides.

Bold Generation will appear in a much funkier guise on a later album entitled Graffiti Bridge with a different title - New Power Generation 💜

Really enjoyed watching this Luke 💜 can’t wait for more … there’s more fabulous B sides to come! I absolutely love ‘Feel U Up’ too and I love the rawness and the humour in ‘International Lover take 1’ …. It’s just mad that you’re still on only album 5 out of 40+!!! And that’s just his own albums and not what he wrote for other artists! Then you think of the 1000’s of unreleased recordings! You will still be doing Prince reactions in 10 years 😂 and I’m down for it! 👍🏻

Awww, I'm so glad that you are enjoying with me! He's got such a HUGE catalogue and at times it has felt that I've been stuck in one year haha.. BUT lol, I am genuinely enjoying the journey too so... bring on the rest! Haha 🤪💜✨️

Thats what you do when you listen to most albums...sum songs pull u in at first sound...others song are more of a slow burn...Especially a Prince CD

Sometimes the slow burners end up being your absolute favourites 💜

Shared w peeps. When u get a chance u gotta hear "how come u don't call me anymore?" Live. U can pull up a show in you tube from bout 1982, Houston, or Bloomington When u mentioned Alicia keys, he covered falling by her in concert. He would do "the question of u, the one, and falling, going back to "the one" Recording engineer said he was often on the piano. She d be in the basement setting up the instruments and he d be upstairs on the piano which was either in the kitchen or right off the kitchen. If u ever get "irresistible b" on vinyl, he has a message going backwards throughout the song, saying "irresistible b I want u I want u"

There is concert footage of Alicia Keys and Prince performing How Come U Don't Call Me live. You should find it. It's worth watching.

Effervessy - love it ... new word appreciation. I've really enjoyed this B-sides deep dive pt 1. Don't think there was one I didn't like. Interesting comment ref Michael Jackson - I was a Jacko fan (still am) but they're two different sides of the genius coin aren't they? I liked Prince when I got older, in fact relatively recently (slow on the uptake) despite always having an eclectic taste in music.

Haha! That's a decent word right!? 🤪 and ahhh, so glad you enjoyed it along with me - I can't get over how awesome his B-sides were in comparison to some people's main tracks! And I love that analogy you made there about MJ and Prince, "2 sides of the genius coin" 👏🏾🪙🎶

HEY man, this looks like the right video 😄. I'm not sure if you know what b sides were. Artist would release an album and then a single from the album would come out on a small record, called 7 inch vinyl or called 45s because they played at 45rpm. They only hold one song, usually on each side. The main single was the a side and the b side a lot of bands wasted with either a non single song from the album or an instrumental version of side a or a dj mix, but prince always made great use of b sides with unrelief songs or different versions. There were also 12 inch records, which were album size, but mainly for djs and had remixes and extended versions, but most were lousy and had no real input from the artist. Just a d j remixing something, but prince was the king of 12 inch extended remixes for a while and where the regular song stopped, he would extend. And usually, that would be the best part of the song. After years of doing it, he had other people remixing them and they weren't as good. His extended remixes. Included him and his band in new versions, he also had unreleased songs like some of this B sides u.played here. People compare Michael and Prince. But one thing you will find is that michael would come out with an album and then not have another for like five years, whereas prince had a new one, at least every year, sometimes twice a year. He used to fight with his label because he wanted to release more music than they would allow, so he recorded so much music I'm stored it away. Which is why, for years? We have all had a lot of bootlegs of unreleased songs, and they are amazing. Glad to see you getting to some more later stuff. ENJOY😀 To more later stuff

For example,.when u get to his song called thieves in the temple u will see how the song ends then listen to the extended remix, and you will be amazed

And remember when listening to the deluxe songs, they are sometimes unfinished or songs he didnt thinknwere good enough to release. They releaded them after he passed, like digging through someones trash. If he thought they were right,he would have released them himself, sometimes u will hear pieces of the unreleased songs in later reworked songs that he did release

Great reaction. I think you will be more impressed with the B-Sides and extended cuts on the Purple Rain and Parade albums, which are genuinely top tier. Considering 1999 was a double album, and Prince also released other music on the Time and Vanity 6 albums, there wasn't really a great deal of quality outtakes left over. Just to add, as a hardcore Prince fan I hope you don't mind me clarifying some of the versions you listened to, as Prince generally made several versions of songs. The version of Irresistible Bitch you listened to was the official b-side to Let's Pretend We're Married, but there is an earlier version recorded in '81, which has more of a 1999 heavy synth vibe. The version of Feel U Up you listened to was recorded around the Sign O' The Times period in '86 -'87, and intended for the cancelled 'Camille' Album, but was eventually released as a B-Side for 'Partyman' on the Batman Soundtrack album. There is an '81 version recorded around the 1999 period, which is similar but more 1999 synth style. If you really want a Comprehensive guide into Prince music, check out Prince dot org website. You'll get everything you need to know about every version.

Ahhhhhh thank you so much! And no no clarify away! Samantha may have included those '81 B-Sides in my Purple Pack but I might have missed them and went searching on my own... so my fault lol... but thank you, because I LOVE a synth.... so will need to check that out! 🤪❤️
