Prince was still amazing in his 50s. This is a cover of Alice Smith's original version from 2013. Prince really added a funk and rock feel to it that, outside of the lyrics, is nothing like Alice Smith's version. This is a phenomenal cover, with big props to 3rdEyeGirl who never gets the respect for being one of the best bands Prince ever put together outside of the NPG.
@chippy77453 жыл бұрын
So agree with you…LOVE this hard rock band Prince put together. They don’t seem to get the credit they truly deserve. Also, around the 3 minute mark Prince begins one of his greatest guitar solos (of the thousands) and it comes to a crescendo around 4 min…WOW. What an excellent song (cover) of Prince’s.

@larrybranchii Жыл бұрын
That band (3rdEyeGirl) was only put together for Warner Bros. (contractually) it had nothing to do with Prince.. the NPG will always be the GREATEST band he’s ever had.. Prince even said in the break down of his song: ‘what’s my name,’ “you never would’ve drank my coffee if I hadn’t served you creame” it was his response to Warner Bros. requesting an all white, female band. It was a “inclusion diversity” thing. All female band.. and white Aka “creame”. #NPG4LIFE •Shelby J -Vox •Liv Warfield -Vox •Elisa Dease -Vox •Ida Nielsen -Bass •Cassandra O’Neal -Keys •Renato Leto -Synth Keys •Morris “Mr. Hayes” Hayes -Organ •John Blackwell -Drums •Andy Allo -Rhythm Guitar •Prince -Vox, Guitar, Bass, Drums, & Keys

@@larrybranchii I agree that the NPG was the best group of musicians that he ever had play with him. Definitely miles above the Revolution, though most people, with their memories of early 80s Prince, don't want to believe that. I'm not sure about the Warner Brothers contract situation as I've heard a few different stories regarding that. Whether is was contractual or not, in time he came to respect 3rdEyeGirl, and I think he respected the fact that they were a great live band. In my opinion, no one could do jam sessions like the NPG. They were definitely the best group of musicians that he ever had surrounding him. 3rdEyeGirl gets the nod for 2nd. They were already playing when they met him, so the musicianship was already there, he just kicked it up a few notches and made them aware of what they were truly capable of. You even hear them say that in interviews. The Revolution (I'm sorry to say...) was decent, but was probably his least talented band. Nostalgia of the 80s is what makes people cling to them. Which is sad because most of his best and most creative music happened post-Revolution. Outside of the greatness of Fink and what Dez and Brownmark added, I was never of the crazy belief that he needed Lisa and Wendy to become a star. Bear in mind that these girls were barely out of their teens when they started playing with him. They really had very little creatively to contribute to him that wasn't already there. Even Jill Jones referred to them as a Milli Vanilli band because at its core, the music was basically all Prince. That version of the Revolution required a lot of hand holding, and if you noticed, they could never pull off those jam sessions like the NPG.

Simply an amazing song. This man crossed every demographic. I'm a 64 year old white guy and honestly I don't know anyone who didn't love Prince. How could you not stand in AWE of this man's talents? A 64 year old white guy who has shed many a cheek full of tears in the last few days. The heartbreaking loss of David Bowie. Our being robbed of Prince. The bodyslams of shock and pain, and for the loss of Maurice White and others... PLEASE, ENOUGH! Let us catch our breath. Seriously. This is too much. God rest your beautiful and enlightened soul, Prince. Thank you for every happy minute you gave me.

Yes, it seems that most of us realize how much we cherish Prince only after he died. We were used to Prince producing lots of good music until months before his death. He always seemed in shape onstage. It's painful for all of us to realize that simply with good persons to help him get out of some medication addiction, he could have turned into an inspiring old musician for more decades. At the same time, Prince might have suffered from the idea that his aging body could not be subject to the extreme schedule of successive performances and recordings any longer. It's complicated. He probably took drugs to keep on going as he had ever done before. Age has no mercy and if you don't listen to what your body tells you, yes, you can die quickly after 55. Anyway, we still enjoy his music and honor his memory by doing so.

Warner Brothers and the ones who murdered him are pure evil and you will not get away with it. A pox on you & yours. FYI, Prince had so much Fentanyl in his gastric system to kill 8 thousand people his size. Enough of the lies about the pill form in his blood. The fact that it was so much in his gastric system says it was ingested somehow. MYSTERY. Who fed it to him? Phaedra? Yea, you'll all pay a dear price.
