Then way he reworked his songs is so incredible. He would update them and let them grow and breath. Most artists are afraid to tamper with their big hits. Prince would just improve them or.update them for tjhe curremt.time. the best example is his later version of Joy In Repetition as heard on One Night Only the Aftershow. its so much better than the version on.the album. Its slowed down and very soulful

The direction he was going before he died is so unbelievably underrated. He was evoking Jimi Hendrix and nobody really talks about it.

Agree. This is a part of him that I didn’t know about. I knew he was a genius musician, but this band was just amazing, and especially getting to see him play the guitar from a harder rocking perspective has been amazing to see! ❤️🤘

Agree. I was at this show (I ugly up the video around the 3:30 mark) and am so grateful to have seen this side of Prince. I'd never seen him before 2014 and I wanted to do it right. I thought about all the different Princes - the dancer, the showman, the performer, the innovator, the lyricist, the poet, the intellectual, the spiritualist. We still got some of all of those, but I knew the main version I wanted to see was the musician. Stripped down to a 4-piece band I knew we'd get that at these shows. I only have 2 regrets looking back on this specific gig, which is the greatest gig I've ever been to. The first and main regret is that we can't do it all again. He's gone now, far too soon, but this specific time and moment couldn't be repeated. I saw Prince a few times and every show had its own identity. This one was magic. Watching this video isn't the same as being there in the moment, but it makes you remember how good it was. The second regret is there's no video footage of Chaos & Disorder from this specific show. I'd seen the Shepherd's Bush Empire footage and got into prime position in case he handed his guitar into the crowd and in this show at the end of the song he handed it right to me. I used to have the audio of it - there's a bootleg channel that claims to have this show but the audio isn't the same (it could be audio from the show the previous night at the same venue). In the audio from this exact show, the end of Chaos & Disorder has some awful out of key tapping mangled out on Prince's guitar, which was me. I'd love to be able to have that recording again.

I was listening through headphones and it absolutely had to be desk audio as the quality was brilliant, but the confirmation is that the stereo field of the drums panned across left-to-right was unchanging regardless of direction the camera was facing, and no "phasing" as it moved around either - such an awesome experience!

The Mozart of our time! It’s amazing every time I see him because I was at the Los Angeles Coliseum for The Rolling Stones Concert… and Prince opened. He was booed off the stage after about 2 and a half songs - or something like that. I was ashamed of that scene of inhumanity. Anyways… that probably made him more determined than ever. And the rest is… insert cliche.
