I read that after Prince Philip died, she didn't use it anymore at all. Everyone who had used it was now gone. Her parents; her sister; her husband. Maybe they went about it in a indirect way, saying can we name our baby girl by one of your names or a name associated with Elizabeth. Names associated with Elizabeth would to a normal person's mind be the middle names that come after Elizabeth, and before the surname. So legally it's hard to prove that they did not have the queen's permission to call their child Lilibet. Maybe the Queen should have asked what name they had in mind associated with her name and thought to say as long as it's not my nick name Lilibet. But it s not something that would cross her mind to think of saying as it wouldn't occur to her that they meant her nick name Lilibet. It would have been better if they at least shortened Lilibet to Lily and maybe used the last part of her name Beth as a middle name along with Diana and maybe even Doria after MMs mother. Eg Lily Diana Beth or Eliza Diana Lily Beth etc. Or Lily Diana Beth Doria etc It's normal for royals to have three middle names after a Christian name and before a surname. This way it would have been a discreet tribute to the Queen's name Elizabeth as well as her nick name, without it being to obvious. Also as MMs mothers nick name for MM was flower, Lily would have been a nod to her own mother as well, as Lily is a flower to. They probably didn't really think it through properly first. Lilibeth is not a Christian name, in the sense there is no Saint with that name, and this could cause problems with christening. How can you imagine that the Chief of Church of England could have approved such an originality? Letting aside the human aspect to have been stolen from such a private detail of her personal memories, something that probably horrified Her Majesty (who for all her life was so defensive about her privacy). But it's also a lack of respect towards tradition She rapresented that she couldn't have accepted. Probably, if they simply had chosen to call the baby Elizabeth, and then in private call whatever they liked, there wouldn't be any problem. But Elizabeth was not enough, they used Lilibeth to stress a connection on behalf of the public eye. Using their own daughter to get attention. I do not doubt that Her Majesty was disgusted at most, by such mean behaviour and lack of respect, towards her as a person, being used in such a poor way, and also towards as her role of Chief of the Church... Poor old lady, while she was in poor health and mourning her beloved husband... 😠😔

When the little girl visited London and she was celebrating her first birthday, Meghan asked the Queen, whether she would allow pictures of her and the little girl be taken by Meghan’s cameraman, the Queen refused and said something like “Not at all”. Normally she was seen very much with her other grandchildren on pictures.

The way I first understood it was that H & M approached the Queen in some form and asked to (or announced they would be doing so) name their little girl after her (i.e., ELIZABETH) but presented it in such a way that they obfuscated the actual intent of using "Lilibet". That sounds like something Meghan would've cooked up. Anyhoo, the Queen gave the okay, misunderstanding what name H & M were after and by the time it all came to light, she was not in a position to walk back her green light. Now I don't know if this is accurate, but it sure sounds like a logical theory as to what really happened, given the large trail of slime certain "slugs" have left in their wake in other matters.🐌🐌
