You don't know what went on behind the walls at the palaces. Just because Harry didn't visit, doesn't mean that he didn't love Philip. It's possible that Philip could have told Harry not to travel during the pandemic. Meghan was heavily pregnant so he may told Harry to be with his wife instead. For his netflix project(s) he is trying to line up the optics that they are royal and close to the queen -- having a royal entourage is de rigeur for that end, hence the request for security that could have been arranged for and provided unostentatiously and low key. Although the RF isnt required to, i strongly feel the RF should now start issuing short statements to clear up the perceived "lack of response" on their side... i.e. something short, sharp and sweet like the Queen's "recollections may vary" statement. In regard to this current saga, perhaps the RF can publicly state what we now all understand "that he and his family aren't being stopped from returning to the UK, nor are they not being prevented from bringing with them their own security, or from hiring private security in the UK .... etc ... but it CANT be working police officers because the royal constabulary AREN'T for sale". Please note that if Harry is successful in suing the government for police protection (for hire) then he uses that as the foundation to again claim he and his wife (and children) are internationally protected persons. This thereby ensures that all other country governments must pay for their protection when they travel (even for vacation). Also, he wants his security to have guns and he wants to perform other travel outside the royal family’ memorial for Phillip and the Queen’s Jubilee (all to make money for Netflix and himself - so not royal family business). A motorcade of protection will look better on Netflix. This ‘episode’ being created by him also gives him another chapter in his book. The full sum is he gets what he wants while still claiming to be a victim.

I suspect you're absolutely right. I read that they're doing a tour this year going to Japan and Australia (though not sure if this is true - I doubt Australia wants them back) and they're looking for free security wherever they go.
