I never really understood the fanboyism of the Sands of time and having to hate Warriors within......sands of time was my very first ps2 game and I problably beat that game a million times and one of thebest games of all time. But nah son Warrior within IS THE HOLY GRAIL of video gaming. Me and my old childhoodfriends would reenact the cut scenes of the game quote by quote move by move with music and everything.

I completely agree. SoT is a better puzzle platformer but WW exceeds the others in literally every other aspect. Better combos & combat, great atmosphere, Dahaka chases, multiple weapons, better story, time manipulation and graphics, and a masterpiece of a soundtrack. People who hate it are blind fans of the original that think this is too dark and edgy which I never understood. That is exactly what makes this game unique and the story justifies the darker turn for the prince. I guess those people prefers an Arabian Nights copycat with Aladdin, Jasmine and Jaffar type Disney characters 😂

When I go back to play SoT it's a fucking chore to play with the combat mechanics. Warrior within is a hoy to replay even in 2024
@raresmacovei83823 жыл бұрын
Better visuals Vastly better combat system Better traversal mechanics Better "upgrade system" Longer game Awesome 2 timelines traversal Actual boss fights 2 endings The Dahaka chases urgency Story complexity A tremendous followup to Sands of Time. The Two Thrones always felt ... lesser in its integration of new mechanics with its level design, existing WW mechanics and somehow downgraded visuals.
@arissigma20312 ай бұрын
I recently learned about The Two Thrones situation,it was a lesser game of the original idea,Prince of Persia:Kindred Blades .In the one year between WW and T2T the game would be an upgrade of WW but dear ubisoft decided to cancel Kindred Blades.The studio had to make The Two Thrones from whatever remaining time and assets were left from the kindred blades project.When I was younger i first got T2T on psp (rival sword) and i liked it a lot,after some years i got the psp version of WW named revelations,i was still around 10 and i liked WW much more,I even thought it was a sequel,then i realized as i grew up what was going on.If the Kindred Blades project wasnt canceled and was given some more time to develop it would be the best of the trilogy,at least it had the potential.If they manage to remake all 3 of the games with today's graphics and maybe modernise(not revamp)the combat system without changing much of the story we are looking at an AAA trilogy with GOTY potential for each game

People who shit on this game are morons, this game was so well put together and fun and engaging, most people who shit on it do it due to the comparing it to the first game and say he is out of character and that it is so edgy as if that makes it bad. People use edgy to mean someone trying hard to be pessimistic for attention, but this game does edgy in a good way, the right way. If anything the only good thing going for the first game is the platforming and time reversal and that is it. The combat was boring and mostly forced whenever you reached a new area. What killed it for me was that if you did rewinds during combat to avoid death and you stop the rewind and another enemy kills you after the rewind then you you dont have enough sand time to rewind further and you are stuck having plenty of reminds, but the recovery timer is depleted, because you need to wait a couple of seconds to fill up which is impossible since you died right after doing the rewind.

just played it again... and really unpopular opinion but I did not get lost at all. Sure its not my first playthrough but I also havent played the game in a few years. Despite it being very open I found it to be very linear. The progression is, do something in the past, go to an area unlock the present, realize nothing works in the present continue through the path to a new room that leads you to the past, fix the broken stuff of the present in the past, and continue. Once I stuck to that, each of the towers flowed really nicely. I was even confident enough to go back after getting the scorpion sword unlocking all of the health upgrades, with little map knowledge.

As a metalhead, I was genuinely happy to see metal in a more mainstream game. It helped solidify it as a solid entry for me. I'm sorry more people don't like metal, but we need more metal in more games, and I mean proper metal, not 3 punk songs and 2 90s rock song on one radio like GTA. Doom Eternal is a fine exemple , they do it do well you almost don't even realize you're jamming to the music while you murder the hordes of hell.

Actually the egyptian looking walls are quite fitting. You're right that they look like egyptian art, but it's actually because middle eastern art and egyptian art do have a few key similarities. Think of sumerian cylinder seals or assyrian reliefs, art of Nineveh or Persepolis. So I wouldn't say the game mashed up random art. If anything, I think it did what pretty much every games does, which is mixing up art styles from different periods of time and pretending they all existed during the same frame of time. Warrior Within feels like it mixed together sumerian, assyrian, persian and crusader era art styles. It works well for the variety like you said but it might take away the immersion if you think too much about it.

I know they're remastering the first Prince of Persia and that it's been pushed back till next year. By the looks of it. But I hope they do it to this game too. As well as the third game there are things about this game and the third game that they could improve on and sharpen up when it comes to just certain mechanics in combat as well as the powers in general. And some of the time-traveling explanations could be tightened up a bit but if they could do this it would be a resurrection for Prince of Persia period on top of that aren't we all kind of annoyed when we have to constantly rebind the controls to controller every time we want to play this game for PC

I was saying the same thing literally yesterday to one of my friends. they should just remaster the graphics . warrior within is not a game, it is an emotion . And everything about Kaileena in this game is emotional. She was not our enemy but still our enemy for some unfortunate reasons at the same time

I love everything about this game unironically except the overall tone and story. It's tries so hard to be edgy and cool that it ends up being hilarious. The Prince swearing, enemy barks trying so hard to be menacing, women wearing skimpy outfits and the electric guitars are funny. Which is definitely not what they are supposed to be

IIRC Prince swore a grand total of 1 Time in the entire game.

"Electric guitars are funny" This games soundtrack is Legendary literally my favourite and introduced me to Rock/Metal. Without it I problably would have never really liked Rock Stuart Chatwood is underrated here

Wow you must be so cool that you don’t like women in skimpy clothing, swearing or guitar riffs 😒 That’s the whole point of it. It’s supposed to reflect a darker turn for the Prince while becoming more of a hack and slash game and playing out like a teenage power fantasy. You think the prince gives a fuck about swearing when he is always moments from dying on an isolated island? The soundtrack of this game is a masterpiece and utterly underrated. The only other hack and slash game with a better soundtrack is probably God of War.

Let's not act like Farah and the women sand monsters in Sands of Time weren't 95% naked. Everyone tries this excuse, no one actually played enough to have any valid criticism though, and the game does have points that can be criticized.

@@TBoneBG oh trust me, I know there's a lot to criticise. Like the ending being locked behind 100% completion, the random out of no where sex scene, combat made in a way where you actually need to time your button presses making it feel a little off, the big enemies needing a QTE to kill them, and some back tracking can get a bit tedious. A type of fast travel would help
