I've done the Swallow Return ONCE....during practice so it didn't matter XP Fun fact to all you tennis players: A majority of the shots in the show ARE possible, but hard as hell to pull off.....not ashamed to admit it, this show got me into tennis because of all the cool shots =)
@ktbphoto10 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is you returned a smash by throwing your arms out while you had your back facing towards said smash... ...........well, ok. And I'd say a minority of the shots are possible (Cause really, if you've seen the later episodes, it gets even more ridiculous than it already was, especially making your opponent lose their senses of sight and sound), but they're just extremely exaggerated in the anime.
@gamingwithautism10 жыл бұрын
gtsomething Oh shit I got his counters mixed up! Good call! I had the japanese name in my head right but typed out the translation wrong haha XP Stupid. It was Swallow Return, where you add more spin to the ball. Thanks for reminding me! And yeah, they do overly exagerate the shots in the show. But I still stay that a majority are possible, even if it's not a very big one. losing your senses doesn't happen, but would be very cool to do in a match =P
@gamingwithautism10 жыл бұрын
***** It did bounce, but just barely and 3 times before it went off the court in a small arc. It got maybe an inch off the court and the bounces were 4-6 inches apart. Didn't roll like in the show yes, but it's about as close as you'll probably get lol =P And again, it was during practice and that's the only time I've done it XD Still pretty happy with myself though haha =)

@kcazzzzz12 жыл бұрын
no, ryoma can do that too. a right handed twist serve puts an inwards side spin, so when the ball hits the ground, it bounces towards the opponent's face. but if it is a left handed twist serve, it puts an outwards spin, and the ball bounces away from the opponent, which makes it harder to catch. ryoma used the left handed twist serve once too

federer's serve in this was a twist serve because you can see the ball move the opposite direction and bounce upwards. A kick serve is different because that just has pure topspin. a twist serve curves a bit to the right and has some topsin.
@ColAcoustic14 жыл бұрын
I feel like you probably should have used Nadal for the example of the Snake. He hits every forehand with the Buggy Whip Motion, and a ton of his forehands have crazy curve on it.

@renzchestergumaru62515 жыл бұрын
Against the rules of physics. Maybe a slightly similar. Federer sometimes do a drop shot closely similar to zero shiki. But it slightly bounces then back to the net. Rolling the tennis ball backwards by drop shot is physically impossible.

@sly741x15 жыл бұрын
yes i know they both have top spin its just that the twist serve has some side spin as well. It mostly has top spin but since you brush the ball from 5 to 11 you get a tiny bit of curve and the ball still jumps up. Thats why its called the twist serve, because it twists. the kick serve is just all topspin, 6 to 12.

The Twist Serve in PoT goes towards the opponent's face. In actual Tennis, a Twist Serve can be made to bounce in any direction really if you hit it properly and it is not used specifically to go towards the opponent's face. The shot always has heavy top spin, and the side spin you give it determines the direction and strength of the bounce. The video shows an ideal Twist Serve: the opponent thinks it's heading at him, but due to the heavy side spin it bounces in the opposite direction.

Yeah just like the man said. The big difference between a kick serve and a twist serve is basically kick serve.... It basically just speeds up and goes higher like as if the the ground just kicked it, or it just got a kick of energy... The twist serve is kind of like the kick serve, but instead of top spin type of spin added to it. You add a reverse slice spin of the arm your using. Example twist serve with right arm the ball will land and than spin to the server's right/the returner's left.
@sly741x15 жыл бұрын
the moon volley is a top spin lob fuji said so in the episode where he first does it. he said that oishis best move is coming up. hell drop the ball with precision to the area, a center court top spin volley

@aznpheonix Kick serve is only like high school level moved. It's meant to be a second serve, gives tons of time to approach the net and since you can't power a second serve, it's a slower serve that will still give them an uncomfortable shot
@sly741x15 жыл бұрын
yes there is a difference a twist serve curves a bit and jumps up. A kick serve just jumps up and doesn't curve. if you dont believe me type in twist serve in google and click the first link.
@LightxKira564314 жыл бұрын
@MultiMaverik That's generally basic, it's just a rule that the ball as long as it gets inbounds without touching the ground after you hit it or anything other than the net after you make contact with the ball.

in fact this serve is called american twist, if the ball was hit closer to the player, then the ball will reflect to the face, federer just shot more close to the middle, leave no space for the opponent to return the ball

I don't think the last one was a twist serve, though. If I remember correctly, the ball spins on the ground for a few seconds before moving in an upward motion. In the video, the ball didn't spin but bounced upward (but idk, the techniques in the anime were exaggerated).

it's still counted as a twist serve. ryoma is left handed and that's the reason why his twist serve flies towards his opponent face. if he were to use his right hand, it would then fly in the other direction away from the opponent's face. CONCLUSION: ' IT'S STILL A TWIST SERVE."
@rachell212511 жыл бұрын
they probably all watch prince of tennis, then go 'yep im going to learn that move now'.

But isn't the twist serve supposed to bounce the other way towards the opponent?
@benlubre64882 жыл бұрын
_ Both were Right-Handed. - But the Opponent was in the left side of the right side of his area. - For that matter a Right-Handed person can not spin the ball oppositely. _ Right-Handed should do to the right side of Right-Handed people to that it goes toward the face, and it makes it hard to return. - Left-Handed should do to the left side of left-Handed people.

You can handwave that as the psychological effect of seeing the Tezuka Zone in play, but I prefer the explanation that in the PoT universe, it is canon that Tezkua bent space-time so hard he really did cause a extinction event.

Yeah Tsubame Gaeshi is indeed fact possible special if you play against a western grip.. I dont think it possible to keep the ball that supper low/rolling on the ground, but your oppent hits in western grip and hits you a nice mid high to like above your shoulder (if your normal height like 5 foot 10 etc) and hit back with strong under spin shot it will stay really low. @Oyamada1312 жыл бұрын
Although Zero Shiki Drop Shot might be possible, the result will never be the same as the anime portrayed. In real life, you can't defy gravity so the ball will always bounce no matter how much spin you put in it. You can make it spin to create a illusion that it didn't bounce though. Like a bounce of 2-5 degree angle. :)
