I may be wrong but I don't think there is a set in stone type studio version of this song other than the movie soundtrack but that even has the live stage sound.....If there isn't a studio version that to me is just another brilliant move by Prince!
@martinweiss316811 ай бұрын
Yes, there isn't a standard studio version and the "official" version is a live recording, although with edits and overdubs - somebody took the pleasure of annotating it for us here kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKPFh4l6dt59Z9k. Then there are rehearsals, the most beautiful of which may be the Take #3 here kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJi7col7YrqIa7c.

To see my former friend, John Blackwell, behind the drums…fulfilling his lifelong goal of being a world touring drummer with a A1 band… it breaks my heart…to know that John AND prince are no longer with us… when I was at school ( Berklee school of music, Boston, Massachusetts)) I used to sit directly next to John…he was on scholarship from Columbia, sc…to see him fulfill his musical dreams with prince is why I’ll play music til the day that I die…may John and prince rest in peace . I hope that his daughter Jia , is getting all the love and support that she needs and deserves…unbelievable purple rain rendition. Peace.

@@kevineden4028 Had a listen to some of his other stuff, and that is much better than this. But certainly not the best music I have ever heard - in my own opinion. He's great, was great and will always be one of the greatest, just a shame he wasn't as appreciated for how great he was untill after he died.

Wow. I saw Prince live probably 20 times between 1984 and the end. This is among the best I've ever seen -- and it['s YT vid. The supreme -- warranted in spades --- confidence, the closeups on his face while grinding out his guitar work, John Blackwell's superb, controlled power. That exit. Wow.

This is amazing! I couldn’t wait for him to rip into that guitar solo. Legendary stuff right here that we will probably never experience again.

I'm sorry for your loss. Now I'm gonna say that Elton John put it so well that I'm sure you can relate to: "and it feels so good to hurt so bad, and suffer just enough to sing the blues". I hope that all helps you along...❤
