When P reprises his solo at around 3:20, goes into a pirouette, and effortlessly comes out of it playing that high note on his Yellow Cloud guitar like it was no big deal...I still get chills off that moment. Totally unexpected, and totally cool. Most folks have no clue just how difficult that is, which is why you don't see many seasoned guitarists doing stuff like that. Respect and RIP to the Purple One.

He's really good and emotional, but not even close to the top 100. Don't get me wrong, I love his style, his phrasing, but there are guitarists in many domains that were/are equally sensible while lightyears ahead technically speaking. Prince was a god level entertainer and showman. And a sublime musician and composer. Certainly not the best guitar player. And I don't think he was looking for that title anyway.

How can you not get inspired by him. My dad had the honor of meeting him in Thailand, back when he was touring. He said, hands down the coolest cat he had ever met. This is probably my all time favourite performance to watch. This is what music should be, drive emotion within you.

Prince is truly one of those artists (like Michael,Janet,Madonna,Mariah,etc.) that come around once in a lifetime that personify legendary. Even though legend truly is a disservice to someone like Prince because he transcended that word well beyond to the stratosphere. Nobody now has even 1/16th the talent that Prince possessed and it's a damn shame he's not here anymore to give his multitude of gifts to the world. I hope he's laughing in the Purple Rain wherever he is.

I heard an interview once where a former classmate of Prince said that everyone of his classmates knew he could play piano but he had never heard Prince play guitar until Purple Rain came out. If he played piano even half as well as he played the guitar ... wow!
