Prince Rama Varma - Lesson - Dasavatharam. Kaatama Rayuda Bethrai Saami Devuda

Less well known than Bhadrachala Ramadasa, Shri Etla Ramadasa was a stone cutter from Andhra Pradesh. The story goes that when he split a solid, spherical
rock into two, a frog jumped out from it! This made him spontaneously compose a song describing the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu....Matsya (Fish), Kurma (Tortoise), Varaha (Boar), Narasimha (Half man - half lion) and so on. Dr.Balamuralikrishna sir set the lyrics to a typical, earthy, Andhra folk style tune that we can easily identify with as the composer's authentic voice.
Rama avathara is surprisingly missing from the lyrics and I hope to find them one day.

This is really amazing, I couldn't believe myself that these student's mother tongue is not Telugu. They've pronounced each and every word so perfectly, without losing folk flavour. This could happen with only with great gurus like SRI RAMA VARMA. Take a bow sir.

There may be some differences in lyrics from above vedio and bellow text, since the teacher and taught are non telugus. The teacher is Prince Rama Varma ji is a malayali and the students here are all kannadigas. Rama Varma ji is quite familiar with telugu being Balamurali krishna sir student moreover gives a lot of imporatnce to pronunciation. How does it matter ? The irony (sadly) is that most Telugus cannot pronounce "old Telugu".(of Tarigonda Vengamamba, Annamarcahrya, Bhakta Ramdas etc..) .the most "pure Telugu" one hears in today's villages of Andhra is ironically the "Bible" (since Telugu versions of Bible were translated about 100 years ago). Telugu Hindus have lost/or in the process of loosing their culture....just wait for 50 years.... btw I am myself from Andhra (East Godavari) , so I know what I am speaking. Even dance forms such are Kuchipudi etc are preserved by Non-Telugus or by Telugus settled in Chennai/US etc. Language at the end of the day does not matter.....Really Hats off to Rama Varma Sir for protecting our Indian tradition/Sanatana Dharma....He even comes every year to Vizag to teach kids....
