@@skygazer6898 I saw just about every episode that aired & as gorgeous & as talented as Mayte is, she was a broken shell of a woman who's self-esteem was on the floor & it was more than obvious that she was still very heartbroken & deeply obsessed with him for however many seasons the show aired. She didn't seem to have any real happiness or confidence until she was finally able to adopt her little girl without the perks of having a husband to share her new found love with. Her mother made it abundantly clear that if she was ever able to have her way and/or a private moment alone with Prince; without her having to risk her very own freedom by not having to serve any actual prison time, she would have loved to have been able to personally be the one to put him in the ground herself for all of the grief, heartache, misery, & pain that he allegedly had caused her daughter both during and after their marriage. Don’t get why people are so quick to attack Mayte for writing a book about a portion of HER life she experienced with Prince! The way he treated Mayte towards the end is what Prince did to a lot of people including his past band mates. Prince was running his music business, touring, making albums, and dating Carmen Electra, Nona Gaye, Troy Beyer... to name a few. After graduating high school in Germany, Mayte told Prince she was going to Cairo, Egypt to pursue a bellydancing career. Prince offered her a job with the NPG but seems he should have just left her to bellydance in Cairo to live happily ever after. Now that Prince is dead she peddles tragedy for profit. Prince never used his son's death to make money, and was charitable in secret.

I heard something completely different about their so called relationship. I heard that she wasn't sixteen when they met, but in her early twenties. Also I heard that Prince never hired her to be his dancer, but Warner Brothers hired her. Prince was married around the same time Michael Jackson got married. Both marriages were arranged. Prince was in love and going to marry Nona Gaye. I guess Warner Brothers liked Mayte's image a lot better. Warner Brothers gave Mayte's mother a whole lot of money to give her daughter away to a complete stranger. Just in case Prince couldn't make her famous and rich, she had to go to plan B. These two loved each other like every little choice they made together was sacred and when they didn’t agree on their religion, that’s when things really fell apart to the point of being irreconcilable. She didn’t connect with the Jehovah’s Witness path - not the worst thing in the world but his faith was super engaged and he could not accept that she wasn’t willing to go along with something she didn’t connect with. People can’t really negotiate their true beliefs. That’s just how I see it.

I'll always love Prince and his astounding music... when I read her book I came to realize what an asshole he was to Mayte though. He was very manipulative and controlling even (especially) to the person he seemed to be happiest with. With an artist as immeasurable and complex I wasn't surprised in the least but I was soured and a bit disenchanted. Mayte born 1973 Nona is actually a bit younger, born 1974. Prince started working with Marvin Gaye’s daughter, Nona, after Michael Jackson was with Elvis’ daughter, he decided to help Nona with her singing career. They were never a public couple or even acknowledged by Prince.

Can u imagine OK for 1 Mayte was 16 when she started worming for him, then came dating, sex( her first) that in itself is HUGE) getting married to him then boom PREGNANT! It all happened so fast. The baby dies ( so tragic, a loss of a child, THEIR CHILD, only to become preg again then miscarry) so boom now divorce. And after a while then Prince dies! Poor Mayte never had a chance to catch her breath! I feel for her!! Ultimately she turned out OK.
