I really like this statue - much more than I expected to. It's lovely and dignified, not sentimentalized or deifying, the way I thought it might be. They chose to depict her humanity, work and outstretched arms. Great choice. Seeing her sons unveil it was very touching. It looks like her toward the end of her life when she was doing her most important work. I know some people are disappointed that it's not glamorous but imo glamour is not what made her special and certainly not worth a statue.

I think it shows her strength as she is often alluded to as a victim. She is a universal symbol of love and the strength that comes from love. Children always flocked to her and she did an enormous amount of work on behalf of children. I think it is a fitting tribute from two sons to their mother.

Diana's beauty beams forth from her statue as sunshine does from the sun. I, for one, representative of a whole lot of folks from all over the world and more importantly, the Commonwealth, would plan a vacation to England just to take a picture alongside this statue of Diana, Princess of Wales, with her right hand lovingly resting on the shoulder of a black boy and her left hand lovingly caressed by a barefooted white girl. If the statue was of Diana alone standing or sitting or with her two sons, I would not be inspired to visit England, that racist DNA worshipping country that enslaved my people for no reason other than our DNA, our appearance, and are still abusing us today for the same reason. When I first saw it I expected her sons with her by her side at her feet small children showing her work. I also expected it to be in color to show how exquisite she dressed even while working and her face with color would show how beautiful she was with her perfect hair.
