@@gmyers4967 I began to notice that if it started with “Scottie, …” he wanted me to make an adjustment but if he used my name at the end of the phrase like, “ Turn it up, Scottie!” he was using it more as punctuation. In the above video it was one of the times it started with “Scottie…” but he didn’t really need me to turn it up, it was plenty loud, he was trying to inspire the people in the balcony. At the top when he says, “…turn the guitar up! Didn’t I tell you never to touch a grown man’s stereo!” he was actually mad at the Monitor Engineer. 🤣 The Monitor Engineers almost never followed the feel of the music.

I attended the 1-hr sound check and this show, which lasted over 3 hours. After this show, I watched him play at a nearby club from 2-5am. At the after show he walked on stage with a box of See's candies and offered us some (in the audience; we were right near the stage). This was one of his best bands ever and this night in particular when you include Maceo, Sheila, and (holy shit) Eric Leeds. If I remember correctly the show opened with Sheila, John, and Prince doing drum solos. Absolutely mind blowing night of music -- he played for 7 hours.

His ability of being in command is off the charts. He's the only guitar who, in addition to fill in that clear funky constant riff, controls a perfect homogeneous musical fabric that can be stopped and instrument selected at his command. You know, what he does with a real band is what Dj's of today do with a machine but not even at the tiniest fraction of perfection and awesomeness that Prince has here. You know he could continue with the music beat forever, only it's live and there's not one band that get used to this. Every band has scripted music, with a structure. Even in jazz the guys don't stop at command. And this has that jazzy school to that. It's funk, but the riff goes on, and every other musician gets his going. This is so precious to hear and watch. He's simple one of the greatest of all time.
