It seems like the Virtus crashed into a truck without an underride guard. No doubt on VW's Safety and structural rigidity..In such situations, it's almost impossible for the A, B, or C pillars to remain intact. In normal accidents, we often see that the pillars of cars from VW/Skoda, Honda, etc., remain intact in most cases. The last time I visited the service center, there was an accident-damaged City 5th Gen and an Amaze that were badly damaged on the outside, but the pillars and body shell were intact. The service advisor mentioned that he has seen many accidents involving Honda cars, and in the majority of cases, the car saved the passengers and the cabin remained intact. That shows dedication of these brands towards safety but still people want a car full of gimmicks and useless features compromising on the Safety, Structural Rigidity..

First car speed was 20 kmph. Second was above 80 kmph. Any speed above 64 kmph cars are not tested, where 5 stars cars also will have major damages as seen in crash tests.

Yes, even in the safest car, going at a safe speed is always better. Respect the road and go at a speed that the road demands and not the car. Why the VW group had earned a worldwide reputation reputation not just because of the design or handling that their cars provide but because of the first priority that they give to safety. Otherwise, in India, they could have made cheap driver cars at a cheaper price and earned a fortune.
