My Way is the english version of a french original titled Comme D’Habitude, initially composed by Jacques Revaux, written and sang by Claude François. It was translated into an english version, with different lyrics, by Paul Anka then made popular by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Nina Simone, … Yseult sang the french original in the French singer contest that revealed her. And there was no doubt she could impress with the english version.

Du tout. La version française parle d'un couple qui ne s'aime plus, mais reste par habitude, alors qu'il n'y a plus de tendresse. Le seul moment de joie pour le personnage est quand il est hors du foyer, où il va "même rire". Le voir comme une chanson d'amour est un sacré contresens.

@@princeblworld You are welcome. There is currently a debate in France because the ceremony ended with a song in English. But for me, the French version would have been a great message for our guests. While “sorry, we messed up sometimes, but we did it our way” was ironically a more French message than the original.

I'm french and must admit that I've never been a fan of hers because of some controversial comments she had about France (she left it to live in Belgium), furthermore she's quite bigheaded... When I heard that she would be singing at the Olympics, I was like :" omg, not her, what a terrible choice...", but when she started singing "My way" at the very end of our incredible Olympics, (which gathered everybody and brought happiness/pride to the whole country), I was captivated. So much emotion, incredible personal rendition, she looked great, and her voice was stunning, especially that final note which was insane. I shed a few tears, yes... It was a perfect performance and apparently, the whole world praised it too.

The original song it's à french song named "Comme d'habitude" by Claude François and Jacques Revaux. Yes she is French and so sing the english version of a french , maybe because the original french song is more about an ending love story.
