I applaud you for making that powerful and impactful statement and to do it with a very heartfelt seriousness. The fingerprint lesson was an easy object lesson for the uninformed or out of touch. Your teacher did an excellent job at bringing something to light to you as a student and it has stayed with you and helped you see the world through a clearer lens. I’m sure your education and enlightenment allow you to better understand, communicate and engage with your very diverse coworkers. I hope I get to meet you to shake your hand one day. Your parents and employer should be so very proud of you!! I’m here in the midst of the healing in the USA. (I sailed on the Coral Princess in February from Buenos Aires to Antarctica, ending in Chile and enjoyed every minute of the cruise)

Hi Alfie...First, thank you for the fingerprint photo, excellent tool to help everyone reflect on what is happening here in the US and around the world. Thank you too for letting those of us who have been worried sick about the crew members on board the beautiful Princess ships. I'm so glad to hear that the repatriation process is going so well. (I was particularly interested in hearing about the Ruby and the Emerald as those were the last two ships my hubby and I were privileged enough to sail on--Ruby in February in New Zealand and then on the Emerald disembarking in Ft. Lauderdale on March 15th). We are scheduled to be on the Sky in November (fingers crossed), and then we'll be on your beautiful Coral next spring Vancouver RT Alaska and then we'll stay on her for b2b Voyage of the Glaciers cruises (throwing all canceled cruise funds into that big trip). Stay safe and I hope that you are able to get back home very, very soon. :) Thanks so much again for taking the time out to do these videos...and congrats on your subbie count (I too am a Creator here on KZbin--2 channels, with the name I'm commenting under now being my larger of the two. Brilliant black or white fingerprint discussion Alfie. As humans, we should all be concerned about human rights. Excellent update on where the ships are. So good for the crew to be returning home. We're keen to use our future cruise credits on future Australian domestic cruises, but I'm concerned that international travel restrictions mean it might take months for ships to be fully crewed again (especially considering that globally covid19 cases are still increasing, plus it's taking months just to return crew to their home countries). Thanks again and enjoy your holiday Alfie.

Hi Alfie I am new to your channel which I have enjoyed watching especially as I have been on several cruises and I am myself a former sailor being a Radio Officer on Deepsea Trawlers back in the mid 1960's to 1970 sailing in Icelandic waters and Greenland. The fingerprint discussion is very relevant at this moment in time with what is going on throughout the world at the moment. Best wishes for a good leave once you disembark your ship and I hope that someday I will get the chance to join you on a Princess cruise in the future as I haven't sailed on a Princess cruise yet having only been with P&O, Celebrity and Fred Olsen on previous cruises. Love the picture of the fingerprint. For your Amsterdam to UK journey if there are problems doing it, consider this video from a travel vlogger: THE ONLY WAY TO GET TO AMSTERDAM? Stena Line Rail and Sail (Noel Phillips) Also consider the need for 14 days isolation once you get to UK. Do you have a fixed length vacation before Princess gets you back on a ship or is it open ended depending on when cruise operations can begin again?
@SameShipDifferentDay4 жыл бұрын
Hi JF thanks for the comment and another great question. Vacations vary but are usually 3 months. I'm hoping this one will be longer to reflect days worked! No future rotations at the minute anyway, but hoping to be exempt from the 14 day quarantine as a seafarer

I have a question.....I fairly often watch sailaway on PTZtv port cameras. One of my favourite parts is when the ships blow their horns. Regal and Royal of course have the love boat horn. And Regal pretty much always blows it leaving Fort Lauderdale. I assume Sky Princess has that horn, being newer, and yet it never blows the horn. Who decides this and why the inconsistencies? Thanks for the updates, it is really interesting to see the fleet in the harbour and really quite stunning.
