This was princess Diana's first official task all by herself. And there was a lot of praise in the UK for the way she did it. They had met, Grace and Diana, when Diana was enganged to prince Charles. The press were obnoxious as usual and Diana fled to the bathroom. Grace followed her, and tried to be of some comfort. And before they had to face the crowd again, she said with her typical humour: "Don't worry. It will only get worse!" Always liked that anedote. Two women who went through the same thing at a certain point of their lives.

I knew nothing about the fact Lady Diana didn't love being called Di. She was one of the nicest people ever, since creation!!!! Diana's blushing was synonymous with good nature, humilty and kindness. All these qualities were her true persona!!! A real beauty that was inside of her, just like Grace!!

Tragic, heartbreaking. I look at her in her infinitely beautiful wedding dress and then I see a picture of her lying in her casket; there aren't enough words to express how infinitely sorrowful that is. Rest in heavenly peace princess.

Mary She WAS a duchess before she got married. Her father was the Earl Spencer of Althorp. She was nobility, not royalty, but not a commoner, like Kate. John Spencer's titles were (24 January 1924 - 9 June 1975): The Honourable Viscount Althorp, and afterwards The Right Honourable The Earl Spencer.

jingle bts Better brush up on your Burke's Peerage there jingle bits. Diana most certainly was NOT a duchess before her marriage. She was the daughter of an Earl and did not have the title of "duchess'. Very, very few (if any) women in the British Aristocracy have the title of 'duchess' in their own right. Even Diana's paternal grandmother, Lady Cynthia Spencer, did not and she was the daughter of a Duke. It would be impossible for Diana to have the title of 'duchess' before her marriage for the simple reason that a Duke outranks an Earl and she was the daughter of an earl. So get your facts straight.

I just read that part of her book. What’s weird is that Diana thought it was right go to the funeral since both women married into important families. What makes that sad is the both women had their lives cut short because of car accidents.

True, Diana was very sophisticated and rather worldly (especially for a young woman back then), but that did not stop her from feeling afraid and did not stop her uncontrollable blushing nor did it eliminate her sensitivity. Like I said, Diana's shyness, blushing, weeping, and sensitivity were as inborn as her periwinkle blue eyes and freckles. It was her high intelligence and yes, high sophistication at a young age that enabled her to have the fortitude to cope with her strong emotions.

Diana attended the funeral cos she felt a bond with Grace. Diana was v intuitive. They both died similarly. Charles' walk behind Diana's coffin with his kids in tow was a sham. He never went back to her grave once the cameras left in 20 years. Not even with his sons that Diana bore. Cant begin to put into words how much Charles disgusts me.

In an instagram page dedicated to Diana, it said that the boys, Princes William and Harry were trained and stiffen up whenever in public because it is said that it is their protocol, even though it is normal for them to show emotion, they chose not to because they have no other choice. I am completely sure that the boys were grief-stricken with their mother's death, all of us did, but it stirred up controversies as to why the Birtish royals are too stiff especially at funerals of loved ones. But I don't blame the boys one bit, it's just because their protocol shouldn't be like that at all.

Poor Stephanie! It breaks my heart that she must live with being a witness to her mother's death for the rest of her life and be followed by the sick rumors that persist about her alleged involvement.. It's just evil, all the awful tabloid stories claiming that she caused the accident, it's a terrible and unconscionable thing to put a young girl through that, especially after all that Stephanie had already been through.. And of course, dear Rainier, his heart was broken irreparably and he never recovered.. It's so tragic the life he led after Grace's death, he was miserable for so many years. However I am absolutely delighted to see Prince Albert has taken responsibility, and that he has his beautiful family (the former ultimate bachelor!), it's so lovely to see how well he is doing, and his sisters.. I am sure Grace would be absolutely thrilled with Albert, and her two gorgeous daughters. Monaco is one of the most lovely and beautiful places in the world. and I am glad to see that Albert is carrying on his parent's legacy. Finally, Rainier and Grace are together again

No, they did not have a happy marriage. Rainier had affairs with several women and Grace began drinking heavily and was rumoured to have had lovers as well. Grace had been offered roles in Hollywood on several productions, but Rainier would not allow his wife, A PRINCESS, to be a part of any of that. Grace had to settle for televised poetry readings. She really wanted to act again. At the end of her life, she felt extremely frustrated and penned in. Sad, but true.

Nowadays, some of them do. Diana sure freed the Royal family since she cried often. She tried to hide it in public, but due to her high sensitivity, she could not and her tears often spilled over. People saw it and were very touched. Despite her tears, Diana wiped her tears away, then went on with reaching out to others and raising her sons. That's true class.

Saying that Grace Kelly could or could not act has nothing to do with being a great movie star. The great ones inspire our love and allow us to project our fantasies about ourselves upon them -- and by that measure she was a very great star, and an icon of mid-twentieth century style.

Irishxxkelt wrote: I am not jaded but am cynical when I see people making out Charles said and did thing which he never said or did. Why on earth would I be threatened by Diana???????? What sort of question is that? I worked as a volunteer teacher in Africa. She was not intelligent. She failed her O levels twice. She didn't finish finishing school in Switzerland and she never returned to learning to be a ballet instructor. The only thing she ever completed was a six week cooking course. Coryraisa replied: Lots of reasons you’re threatened by her…lots of the same reasons Charles was jealous of her. Face reality, Diana WAS very intelligent, which largely explains her extreme sensitivity. Like I said, LOTS of intelligent people fail their O’s; failing in school is NOT a sign of low intelligence. I also suspect you feel threatened by her because she was so, so sensitive…a different breed from most of the rest of us…her deep thoughts and raw emotions made you a tad squirrely. The reason she did not stay at the dance school long was because she’d sprained her ankle skiing. She’d been successful at several things even at that young age…won a few art awards, excelled in music in school, won a prize for kindness, won a prize for taking the best care of her pet (one school allowed pets). Also was a successful, wonderful nanny for a family who’d come from the States and was a wonderful, SUCCESSFUL teacher’s aide to a kindergarten class, the Young England kindergarten. And some of the kids there were pretty energetic. I think that’s also why Charles and his cronies along with you twisted into a loo pipe knot over Diana’s QUIET, DIGNIFIED, INTELLIGENT interview with Bashir…because that interview revealed a very intelligent, dignified, caring, and serious-minded woman. And that’s why, to Charles and your disgust, MOST of the PUBLIC applauded Diana’s courageous interview.

Coryraisa, you don't know what you are talking about. People who are as Narcissistic as Diana geneally wallow in their own emotions, as Diana did. It's typical.

John C nelson, Diana's death was tragic. Like everyone else (I suppose) I hoped that after her divorce from Charles she might find some joy with a person with whom she was more compatible. What I find revolting is the obsession with Diana that causes people to focus a story that is about someone else entirely, upon Diana, as is happening here. I also find it objectionable that Diana has been turned into a Saint, at the expense of all those around her. Diana was a mentally unbalanced person who caused an enormous amount of grief. She was very typically narcissistic. Narcissistic people generally present extremely well, as Diana did. And unfortunately, her legacy of bad mouthing the Royal Family wont go away because so many stupid people liked the idea of being able to channel hatred towards them. The implications made by Diana that they were cold and unfeeling were slanderous. They are exactly the opposite: a family of people who founds, and/or are patrons of or chairman of numerous charities ranging from the Red Cross. They are excellent at recognising needs, including responding to epidemics and other emergencies. It i because of THIS awareness that Didan was given the opportunity to take over the patronship portfolios of two NEW charities- HIV Aids Appeal, and Landmine clearance. Both of these charities brought Diana a huge amount of publicity and kudos. But if Diana had NOT become patron, then another member of the Royal Family would have done it.

John C nelson, Well, maybe my diagnosis is not correct since some of her biographers have suggested that it was Borderline Personality Disorder from which she was suffering. I don't. Her charitable work, apparent empathy with those who were in positions of no power (sick, injured etc), the competence that she developed in utilising the press, suggest Narcissistic Personality Disorder rather than Borderline.

Coryraisa: And You Are Stupid Enough to Believe that intelligence Comes from Reading a Book. Or, Getting College Degrees?? I See then How NOT intelligent You Are... I Know Many People that Have Master's Degree & PHD, doctoral degrees and Don't Have Any Common Sense in their minds, and are also plenty of Stupid. Just because You Read about One topic and an institution gives you a Paper that Says that You Graduated, Doesn't Make You intelligent. You Just About a topic, learned about it, and got a Job doing that, doesn't make you intelligent about Life.

On more than one occasion, Charles made Diana cry so much that Wills would hear her and often cry too. Once Harry overheard his father’s cruelty to his mum and afterward went in and demanded to know why he was making his mummy cry so much. Staffers heard Diana’s frequent crying and saw how distressed and unwell she looked and were concerned, which, yes, did create discomfort for many of them since they did not know if sensitive Diana would crumble under the tension.

Zita Carolina. Diana represent the queen at princess grace funeral in 1982. Sadly 15yrs later many ppl dignitaries attended her funeral. There was from no fairy tales for Diana. She came from a broken marriage parent. Also happened to her marriage. Coz the end of her much younger life. Charles betrayed Diana in the name of love. Plotting her death.

But it was her courage, intelligence, and good heart that enabled her to remain gracious and polite and hold on to her dignity despite her blushing and trembling. Even when Nancy put an intrusive arm around her waist and stomach at the last dinner there, Diana kept her dignity and never sunk to the UNsophisticated Nancy's crassness. It's easy to see why Frances, her mum, was just so proud of the fine woman her daughter had become in the face of great turmoil.

He also didn’t help matters when Diana hinted at feeling “stupid” because of her struggles with math; he didn’t offer her a kind word of support there; he just left her to continue feeling “stupid” and even indirectly reinforced her low self-esteem by talking down to her. He often called her a “ninny” during their rows.

Apparently they took her to some rural medical centre instead of the proper hospital in Nice, not much further away. There she received appalling treatment and may well have survived. All in all the people guarding them were hardly the secret service! Like Diana, she WASN'T WEARING A SEAT BELT!!!! The undertaker also botched her body's restoration. Dont find the pictures if you don't want to remember her that way!

Diana's mum looked as destroyed as Prince Rainier. Granted, Diana's funeral was quieter and more low-key...many of the mourners cried quietly, not loudly; it was mostly silent tears on people's faces. But the grief was just as present. I've read that Wills was so destroyed he needed to be sedated for a while and was depressed for several years after losing his beloved mum. I think the quieter nature of Diana's funeral represented the reserved, quiet, shy woman Diana was.

Even though Lady Di was a very wonderful Princess, a marvellous creature, I love her so deeply but the truth is she never overcome Grace Kelly's beuty and style. Ok, she was the most famous Princess because of press, persecution, but Grace is really the epitome of Royalty. Diana herself considered Princess Grace her myth. Both stunning Ladies

No one is kind all the time, but IN GENERAL, Diana had a very, very good heart. Charles was also impossible to deal with for many staffers; I’ve read that whenever a newspaper was not placed right beside his bed in the evening, he’d throw a tantrum. Diana is NOT the evil vixen you are desperately trying to depict her as. Diana resolved things with Tiggy.

Or are you so jaded and cynical that when you saw Diana’s big heart and outreach work, you assumed that “secretly” she must be this “horrid” villain? Were you threatened by Diana’s quiet, reserved manner or her ladylike dignity and elegance? Or did you see how intelligent she truly was and couldn’t cope with this feminine, soft-spoken, stylish woman being also intelligent and so good?

Irishxxkelt rants on: But the thing about you Diana fans/worshippers... Coryraisa's response: You’re so twisted into a twizzled knot, you’re tripping over yourself…YOU are the one blaming Diana for everything. Glad you acknowledge that Diana did admit her mistakes and did admit that she was half responsible for the breakdown of the marriage…something Charles never did. Part of Diana did still want Charles…oh, she still loved him very much, even at that late stage…but she knew he did not love her, which is why she was hurting so much and it sure made her cry almost constantly. She was so, so brave during that interview; at one point, it took all her willpower not to break down sobbing. At another point, I think when it came to Camilla sleeping with Charles behind her back, the mere though made Diana swallow…but she continued with that fortitude she had. Oh, how she must have been really hurting inside just re-living that awfulness of knowing that the man she loved and invested so much emotionally in and who was the father of her boys was sleeping around with other women, lying to her, then lying ABOUT her, spreading malicious slander about her. It was easy to see that in private, she’d really sobbed and sobbed over this shedding ten worlds of tears. I along with the VAST MAJORITY of the public WORLDWIDE knew this, but saw her great fortitude and strength in public, which made her more loved than ever. She gave this interview was ALL OF US, so the public would know that as long as she was alive, she would NEVER give up, never abandon the people, never surrender to the temptation to numb her pain with drugs (which is why she refused anti-depressants or tranquilizers) or alcohol. Diana knew that once she and Charles divorced, Charles would re-marry and most likely it would be Camilla since Camilla is as shallow and phony as Charles is. And despite your claim, she accepted it. She wasn’t happy about it, but had accepted it with maturity and grace and actually at one point, wishes them well. Despite the pain that Charles and Camilla put her through, part of her still cared about them and she was truly worried about how they would handle the pressures of public life, especially now that Diana herself had stepped aside from the Royal spotlight. Diana was the one getting on with her life. I think in the afterlife wherever she is, she is aware that Charles and Camilla have re-married. Her soul still often worries about not only her sons, but yes, Charles and Camilla and even Charles’ parents. No doubt her soul still sheds tears for all of them. Your idol Charles was the loose canon with his blathering, slandering mouth; he was the one out of control with his arrogance, blaming Diana for his actions, and for his affairs (all the while making excuses for himself while condemning Diana for her affairs) thru his spin doctors. Diana’s interview countered that loose canon Charles. She knew she needed to discredit his slander and lies for the benefit of the people. And don’t tell me he “never said anything,” because the things he didn’t say directly, he indirectly manipulated his spin doctors into saying, so he could go on playing the “innocent long-suffering” husband at the “mercy” of his “unstable” wife. Charles is VERY, VERY DEVIOUS and good at putting on false fronts, which is what has you fooled. Diana was not so adept at this, so that’s why Charles manipulated this and her emotional problems to make her seem “unbalanced” and got his spin doctors to “diagnose” her in a malicious attempt to discredit her. Diana knew she owed it to the public to tell her side of the story and she had EVERY RIGHT to do so. Had Diana lived, she’d actually be maybe living in Switzerland, more at peace, but still often feeling sad, but also have some happiness in her life. Yes, she’d still often frequently weep…and still be working on her outreach work making this world a better place. And probably not re-married since she had been badly burned by her relationship with Charles, but would most likely have flings and occasional great sex sometimes. Did you read the Time (NOT a tabloid) magazine article that was released a couple of weeks ago on Charles? It’s NOT a rosy, romantic view of Charles, but a mostly realistic one. The article is accompanied by only ONE picture of his sons (and Charles is NOT standing with his arms around them or even close to them either), even few of his parents and maybe two of Camilla, and NONE of either Kate or little George. In most of the photos, it‘s just Charles by himself. For all Charles’ pretense of the false image of this “private, quiet intellectual,” he actually cracks that façade by complaining that the media “didn’t make enough” room for him in the spotlight. So who is the bitter one here?

Tiggy avoided all three of them…Diana, Charles, and Camilla for a long while after that; Diana admits that all the friction and tension between the three of them made it difficult for Tiggy and also Patrick Jephson along with some other staff, so yes, some staffers did leave BOTH Charles AND Diana’s employ.

Cont'd to Irishxxkelt, Diana-hater... I have seen pics of Charles and Camilla...sometimes they are smiling, but lots of times, the smiles are fake. I have read in one book and one magazine article last year (I think it was *Time* or *Newsweek*) that Charles and Camilla no longer sleep together and now rarely go on holidays together. And rarely have I seen them kissing or openly showing affection for each other. Diana was different...in the pics I've seen of Charles and Diana over their marriage, at first, both of them looked very happy together and were openly affectionate and kissed often. Diana had high dreams for this marriage and her family since she loved Charles and their boys so deeply. How crushed she was when she realized that Charles's love was fickle and that he failed to mature, but went back to his adolescent-ish ways. How it HURT her so much when he went back to his bed-hopping ways behind her back, then lied to her about it. Much as you want to romanticize Charles (I wonder if you are an adolescent yourself) as this "committed, perfect" man. Irishxxkelt, Camilla was NOT, NOT Charles' only mistress.
