Don't be embarrassed by all the little things your daughter does while you are recording. Those little reminders that she is there shows us that she is happy and that you are doing a great job as a mom. I wish that youtuber's would show that more. Children are active beings and you never know if you will miss her energy in a few years. You are a great mom with a wonderful daughter, take pride in that and her exploration!

I love this! I was chunkier in high school, and the positive outlook is what helped me, too. It really is all about loving yourself. Now after gaining a good chunk of weight with baby number 1 things are a little harder! Good luck with your newest little bundle, and your daughter is adorable.

Awww! Your husband was so sweet! When I culminated from middle school, I noticed that in the first semester of high school I began gaining weight. I was almost 130 pounds which wasn't pretty considering I'm already curvy and only 4 "11". I would binge all the time, hated exercise, and stressed myself out about it, by trying to diet unhealthily and then breaking in with a binge fest. It didn't quick in that's I needed to get it together until the Christmas of 2014 and I learning about calories, exercise, and moderation. My meals were portioned, I cut out fast food which I could live without, I began exercising by going on runs with my music and I actually enjoyed it, and I even joined ballet which is now one of my favorite hobbies! I still struggle but I can honestly say I now fall between 114-117 pounds! Maybe not other people can see the results, but I do and that's what matters. This video was perfect since I have to go to school after next week and will have to maintain what I have accomplished. My only concern is lunch time. School lunch isn't the best and I was wondering if you could recommend any light meals I can bring from home that will last through the day in my back pack. I can buy and ice pack if need be! Thank you! ❤️

This is inspiring and very helpful. I'm tired of seeing people who were only five pounds overweight or who didn't really need to lose any weight to begin describe their "weight loss journey", as if most people could relate. I can actually relate to your story and I feel motivated to finally get this weight off and keep it off. Thanks for sharing!

After doing my college program and a semester of eating nothing but dole whips, pizza rolls from the vending machines backstage and nutella waffles I was really unhappily at 145 pounds which is a lot on my 5 foot frame. I've been losing weight and getting in the best shape of my life and my two secrets are: 1. Tracking macros. I have a certain number of carbs, protein and fats that I am allowed to eat during the day and getting my food to fit my macros is a fun challenge. For reference, I eat about 1400 calories, 140g of carbs, 67g of fat and 135g of protein. I am also very short, and these macros would be way too few for someone who was taller. 2. Lifting heavy weights! Lifting heavy does not make you manly or bulky; it makes your waist tiny, your abs rock hard and your butt huuuuge. I always thought exercise meant running, but it doesn't! For me, exercise is lifting heavy, climbing, hiking, doing plyometric cardio or other things I actually enjoy doing. I have gone from 145 to 128 and plan to lose more weight slowly and steadily by maintaining a caloric deficit. Sorry for the giant wall of text but I wanted to share what has helped me in the hopes that it will help someone else too! I love watching your channel :)

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate that you made loving yourself a pivotal step in this video! As someone who struggled with an eating disorder through high school and some of my adult life, I know how important messages like that are to young people who are having body image issues. This is probably the most inspirational and real weight loss journey videos I've ever watched. Since I was a kid I've struggled with my weight. In high school I had a brief spurt where I basically followed these rules and dropped a ton of weight. Since then I've gained back around 100 pounds and this reminded me how a lifestyle change doesn't have to be difficult and a simple change can go a long way! Thank you for sharing your story!

I hope they do! What I really find makes a difference for me, is keeping super busy between meals. When I have too much downtime, it's easy for me to just eat all day long when my body doesn't really need it. I also do my best to not drink my calories. Eating a side of fruit or vegetables instead of French fries, that sort of thing, really helps me during the week, I feel. Not that I never eat fries, it's just something I try not to "always" do because I know they're higher calories and not as rich in nutritional value as the vegetables and fruit. ♥ God bless ♡

Great video, great advice! And SO easy to follow. When I was in junior high, I adopted several of these habits, and despite being too picky to eat healthfully, I've never been near overweight in my life. They WORK. This is such an inspiration to girls looking to lose weight without destroying their psyche: the first step is loving yourself (of course, who couldn't love Jennifer Oakes?). Excellently done.

I don't know if i already commented on this video, but I always come back to it because it makes me believe in myself! You lost weight the healthiest way, and you did not restrict yourself to the extreme, because when people do that they end up putting all the weight back on because they deprive themselves too much. I lost weight the same way, though I wasn't planning on it I just wanted to be healthy and I did lose a bit of weight:D your daughter is precious, best wishes!

Hi Jen, great video. Its great you know what to say in front of the camera. great job..... I should do a video if Im brave enough. lol. Its interesting how knowing how to lose weight is so unknown, I think its because we all have different metabolisms. I agree with the not overeating, letting yourself feel satisfied. and it helps to set realistic goals when losing weight and not rushing to lose weight either - for the purpose of not worrying about "falling off the wagon" if we feel defeated or frustrated and want to pig out etc. I find exercise for me is best as well as managing meals..... but I certainly don't go without the foods I love..... just using in moderation is the key. You look great by the way, Jen/Jennifer. :)

What you are talking about sounds like "intuitive eating". I discovered the video "what is intuitive eating" by Kati Morton and it has changed the way that I think about food, and it is best alternative to diets that I have experienced. It sounds so simple but I think it's because you are dealing with the deeper issue involved with over eating and once your correct your thought process you can begin to think in a healthier way. You are awesome- well said! Thank you

My wife and I have been losing weight for 4 months and we are both currently 38 lbs down (her) and 32 lbs down (me). It was so hard to change the habits of eating poorly but I am now used to the working out and eating better. No fast food and sugary things. Becuase those were my bad habit. Now I am almost the weight I was at the start of College and I only have 30 more lbs to go before I start working on that muscular frame that my wife wouldn't mind at all.

+GeeBri soo important for us to love ourselves.. no matter what! It makes such a difference in our quality of life. Finding little things to be thankful for even, sometimes I have to do that! I've been tempted to complain that my feet are too big, but then I remember, "at least I have feet.. I have all five toes, my feet work.." and I am thankful. Sometimes I'm tempted to hate my hands (If you google "Megan Fox thumbs" you'll see what I mean..) but then I think, "At least I have thumbs.. and all five fingers on each hand..and my hands work.." and I begin to appreciate my hands, will I ever be a hand model? No. lol. but if that's the worst thing to happen to my hands, is that they aren't worthy to be hand models, then so what??? I can use my hands for soo many more wonderful things.. and so we have to find a reason to love our outside and our inside.. Hugs and God bless! xo

Hi Jennifer I love your videos and you're such an inspiration to all the girls out there that want to be a Disney princess. and I was just wondering when I go to Disney all the princesses I see, not all of them are size 4 some girls even look like they're a size 10. And I was just wondering if sometimes casting isn't as picky as people say they are, like if your face looks a lot like the character will they sometimes overlook if you're not a size 4 and maybe you're like a size 9. If that makes sense😂 thank you so much!!!
@OakesPrincess
@OakesPrincess 9 жыл бұрын
Carolyn Pitt Hey Carolyn! thanks for your comment! As far as the girls who look like they're a size ten, they very well may be!! It wasn't uncommon for girls to gain weight after being cast (even though we were told not to). Height can also make a difference, taller girls won't always be a size 4, for example. Sometimes casting isn't as picky, true, it can depend on the character they play too.. I was showing my belly 24/7, so it was a little different for girls who were portraying princess Jasmine.. you don't have to be stick thin to be hired at Disney, that's for certain!

@OakesPrincess 9 жыл бұрын
nic rus thanks for writing, if you can do this as a college job, that's great! to be honest, I have no idea whether it's harder or not. I'm so sorry! I never met anyone who worked on the cruise line. I felt it was easier for people to get cast in Japan as a Disney Princess who didn't look so much like the character, but harder for girls who lacked dance skills.. I don't believe Japan would've taken me because being able to dance was super important to them. Whereas at Disneyworld, I felt they valued looking like the character more than the dance ability (but with both auditions, both things were important) of course, it depends on who is working in casting at the time. I have no idea who works where in regards to casting these days. xo

I am obsessed with this channel. I have always wanted to be a Disney Princess, and these videos have made me realize that I totally CAN! I have a question- I am just Caucasian, so I could fit the mold for quite a few princesses- when I audition, is it for ONE specific princess, or do they assign you who you think you would be best for? Does that make sense?
@OakesPrincess
@OakesPrincess 9 жыл бұрын
mia hamaker Hey Mia, thank you for being obsessed with this channel. lol. I appreciate your encouragement and support! When you audition, they consider all the different face roles you can play.. sometimes they may only cast you for one princess (whoever you have the strongest look in, Cinderella for example), but as they get to know you and time goes on, they also see who else you may become and then add princess roles to your abilities.. but they usually will cast you as more than one princess at the audition (if you're going to be more than one role). They go based off of what they think, less what you think. I did ask for Pocahontas, but that wasn't typical to do at an audition (have you seen the Pocahontas confession video?) Usually it isn't until a princess has worked for the company and gotten to know the casting directors and the staff (the way the machine works) that they become bold enough to start requesting to be able to perform diff. roles. That's what I experienced however. thanks for writing! I wish you the very best!

Jennifer I love your videos and I relate so much to your story! I feel so happy when I eat and I overeat a lot that's a huge problem. Was it hard to suppress your urges to overeat? I'm asking because I'm having that difficulty and I feel like I have no control.

I try so hard to lose weight. I dance for two hours everyday at school and at night during the week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and from 10am-6pm on Saturday. When I don't have dance at night I meet with a trainer at the gym after school. I drink only water and sometimes juice, I have a salad at least once a day and rarely snack, but I still cant lose weight. It is the struggle of my life. I'm 5'5 and about 150lbs. I have a descent amount of muscle so it's not 150lbs of fat and bone but my ideal weight is about 130 but no matter how hard I try I can't lose any weight

Jennifer Oakes They always just say "youre fine." or "oh stop you weight is great." My mom has a very slow matabilism and I have also been cursed with that gene so I think that is most of it. I'm not overweight when you consider my muscles but I could definatly lose some weight, but doctors alwasy say "Remember to eat healthy" "Do you work out?" "Try working out more." I think that is all I can do at this point because doctors obviously aren't doing anything.

Hey Jennifer! :) Thanks for making these awesome videos. Its really cool to hear about the experience you had. I have a question for you and hopefully you have an answer. But, it came up in a conversation that a friend and I had and we were curious. So, Disney characters are obviously supposed to only talk about things that happen within the Disney universe. Everything else is unknown. But, what about crossovers like Kingdom Hearts? Characters like Jasmine were in the videogame. So, if someone came up to you and asked you a question about what happened in the game...did you guys know the answers? Im SO curious.

I think u made some super valid points, these days u go online ESP KZbin and look up weight loss, and everything's vegan this and that, and basically eating only veggies and fruit . And for some people that's not possible, I'm really picky Nd I don't really like healthy foods like all veggies or fruit, I don't even like strawberries or watermelon lol and I def don't like salad lol. But u ca lose weight eating the foods u like, bc if u completely cut out all the foods u like, then there's a good chance I'll binge, bc ur not emotionally satisfied. I don't have a big issue keeping weight off now that I don't stress about it and realized I can eat the foods I like. I feel like why u said would work for a lot of people who can't be vegan, esp young girls who don't have rich families, u have to east what ur family makes and buys and they probably don't buy super healthy vegan foods bc they're expensive, so for young girls who aren't super privileged this is the best thing to do, and maybe u can talk ur family into making more veggies even if it's from a can. Eat small portions but more often!! That's wat works for me, eat six small meals all day, or three medium small meals, and then several very small snacks, and not pop tarts lol. Pop tarts killed me in Highschool, they were my weakness hahaha

Oh and at home work out vids!!! If u can't afford me look them up online, most people these days have Internet, and u can find that stuff online, me and my mom have lost tons of weight with workout vids! And just do em every other day if u don't want to do em everyday, it'll just make the weight come off faster. U need cardio to lose weight, and leg workouts will help slim ur thighs. Just like squats, but u should try and find different workouts so ur body doesn't get use to it. I work a labor job, so walking and little workouts like that don't work for me bc my bodies use to walking and lifting small (ish) weights And I pull stuff too so my legs are use to average leg workout too!

Hi! I know this is wayyy after the video is posted and you probably won’t respond to this, but I just had a couple of questions. I’m 14 years old (almost fifteen) and I’ve always wanted to be a face character, although that’s probably off the table because I don’t have the typical look. I’ve been trying to lose weight not necessarily because I’m ‘fat’ but just so I can feel better about myself. I’m 5’5-5’6 and about 155 and have been steadily gaining this past year, which I understand may be caused by puberty or something, but it’s pretty discouraging to me when everyone around me is skinny and athletic. I know I need to be more body positive and comfortable in my own skin but I have trouble doing that and if I do feel good it only lasts for about a day. How did you go about feeling better about yourself? I know you said that your boyfriend helped you but were there any particular ways that you used to feel confident? You always were beautiful but I think having confidence in yourself made your beauty shine. I love your videos and I think you’re such an inspiration! Again I know this is way after you published the video so I’m sorry about that.

I know what you mean by not eating unless you are hungry. Last night I was reaching for a pudding cup. The whole day I was eating nothing but junk food. I thought to myself,"Morgan,this is not going to take you to your goal,and you know what pudding tastes like. It's not worth it. You will regret eating that after all you've eaten today" and I put it back in the pantry,and I'm proud that I did. It's only the first step,but it's a step.

I have a really bad habit of eating snacks before i go to bed! Most of the time I'm not even hungry, just craving some food :P Do you have any tips on how to break this habit?
@OakesPrincess
@OakesPrincess 9 жыл бұрын
Tabie Wade-Scriven Is there a healthy snack you can allow for yourself? maybe baby carrot sticks? or some sort of fruit, like an apple? frozen berries? (I like to defrost them in the microwave a bit before enjoying them), or a low calorie drink you think is tasty? When I used to go to bed without having eaten beforehand I used to enjoy a hot tea (no sugar/perhaps try stevia sweeetner/splenda if you love the sweet taste).. that's one way to indulge without guilty feelings. :) otherwise, I did my best not to stay up super late (went to bed at a decent hour), getting a good night's rest is also very helpful to feeling better during the day, I've always heard when you're sleep deprived that it can cause you to be hungrier. Knowing that not eating a big meal before bed meant I'd fit better into my clothes the next day helped keep me motivated. xoxo Hope this helps! xo

Also when you get cravings late at night and feel very hungry its not actually that you're hungry it's your body releasing signals that you need to sleep.

i study nutrition almost religiously it makes me sad to think that most just think you need to eat less and exercise. the truth isnt so simple. sigh, =D just check out Dr. Mcdougall on youtube. Eat as much as you want keep it simple wholefoods/homemade foods. potatos, rice, beans, and pasta as the staples, then lots of fruits and veggies low to no excess oils
@OakesPrincess
@OakesPrincess 9 жыл бұрын
+Sirius Neo Hey, I never said I studied nutrition.. I emphasized in the video that I was nooooo expert. This was just my experience. I am working towards being healthier now as a woman in my 30's.. back then I was just a kid out of high school. This video was mostly, for me anyway, about my emotional feelings.. I didn't used to love myself, and loving my body was a huge step in the right direction for me. but yeah, I agree, keeping it simple, with whole foods, etc. My family is from Colombia, when I went to visit the country, people eat like that (there's not a lot of fast food and people don't have a ton of money, but they look great and they eat clean, more out of necessity and lack of money to splurge at chain restaurants, well, there's not a ton in their country compared to the USA anyway) but yeah. again, this was just my telling of what happened to me.. but not trying to say it is "the best way.." I can't emphasize enough how little I know.. people just asked me soooo soo soo much I finally made a video about it.

You're fine. I didn't mean to get all touchy, it's just, I was worried people who know more about nutrition would get upset with this video because it isn't the "right way, " but again, I made it just as a "my personal past" type video, since people have asked. Thanks for letting me know you weren't slamming the video. Of course, I'm human, and criticism is always hard, but if you're on KZbin, you have to expect it. ♡
