This woman commentator is wrong regarding what the blackamoor brooch really means or represents. It actually represents a moor of royal status. But, people today, like her, who have no knowledge of such a 17th century origin, have given it an incorrect racist connotation. However, I think that's something which Princess Michael should have known. Having so many other brooches from which to choose, no doubt that it was very unfortunate to wear it just when she did, so maybe she did do it to offend. "The sting" from the faux buyer that Princess Michael suffered is on her, since nobody forced her to talk so candidly to a stranger. She's definitely a character, full of contradictions and mischief, and it's definitely very difficult to be a royal with no money!

I think chances are good that she does know the history of the brooch. I'm currently reading one of her books and I am impressed with the depth of her historical knowledge. However, I do think she should have realized how this brooch would be seen by the general public. So she's either out of touch or she did do it on purpose. I should add that after reading her book I dislike her much less than I did previously!

I met Princes Micheal once, about 20 yrs ago, I worked at the HQ of the Red Cross, events. At an event, she came into the back rooms where, we the events team who organised the event, we're, she came to find us 1st, chatted to us all, said " I hope you have all eaten, you have worked so hard" she was lovely, bright, beautiful, fun, natural. I think some of these guys are snobs.

What a trashy documentary, the authors have no clue. Royal nobility? That doesn't exist. Royalty and nobility are two distinct strata of society. Furthermore, the Reibnitzes were lower nobility in Bohemia, and were certainly not reigning, while the Princes Windisch-Grätzes, the most illustrious of her immediate ancestors, were mediatised but were never royal. There’s a whole generation in Australia who do not know, or know very little vague things about what their parents did in the war. It’s especially common in Jewish families. It is as if the older generation made a concerted effort to ensure the next generation did not carry the burdens that they had.
