Princess of Wales drinks Guinness as she becomes new Colonel of the Irish Guards

The Princess of Wales took her first Royal salute as the new Colonel of the Irish Guards at their St Patrick's Day parade on Friday.
She began her celebrations of the Irish holiday by visiting Mons Barracks in Aldershot alongside the Prince of Wales, where they marked an informal handover to her as the new Colonel.
Kate presented traditional sprigs of shamrock to the officers and guardsmen, as well as to the regimental mascot, a two-year-old Irish wolfound called Turlough Mór, also known as Séamus.

From the USA: As much as I admired Queen E!izabeth, I never really grasped the importance of the monarchy until the debacle with Harry and Meghan. The contrast between Princess Catherine and Meghan (representing the worst of American stereotypes) was so stark that I literally have levelled up myself! I want to conduct myself with the grace, manners, and warmth of the future queen. I want to dress more elegantly. Good heavens! The depths to which Americans have sunk since the days my mother wore hats and gloves makes for a very sad landscape over here. I am a one woman force, trying to change the world! Thanks to the British monarchy. But there is much more to it than that. When Prince William and Princess Catherine visited the United States (Boston, to present awards) I realized the value of having respresentatives of "the best of the nation" who are not affiliated with political parties. Honestly, who else in the world is like them? I have come to appreciate King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, but they have been tarnished by their past and obviously do not have the youth, energy and charisma of PW&PC. I am truly grateful for the gift to the world that they are, right now. We desperately need them! Finally, I had never understood "working royals" until H&M. Without their volunteerism, their work for so very many charities, people would look to the government for support. My feeling is that in the U.S., we have largely lost that privilege of caring for one another and now expect the government to do everything for us. Certainly there is a place for governmental support, but it was very different when I was young. The work of the royals is personal. They show up. They contribute. American charity amongst the elite feels like quid pro quo. Virtue signaling and tax breaks. It's like Meghan showing up at the women's shelter in designer clothes. This is not at all the same as the royals showing up, looking like royalty. I will never in a million years understand how Meghan thought she could marry Harry, move to the US, and be a princess over here. It doesn't work that way. I just wanted to write a love letter to the UK, and to the Waleses - Wales'? - so there it is. I'm glad to be an American, but I will never forget that my ancestors came from Jolly Old England in the 1600s! God Save the King.
