Speed running has nothing to do with level difficulty, speed running is a seperate task unto itself where you're focused on time rather than accomplishing tasks other than finishing the level.

Gameplay revolving around 2 buttons and being able to take 5 hits makes this targeted at children? Everyone keeps saying it's a 'kids game' when basically every Mario game has done the same thing. That said, she played this demo and loved it, it was easy enough for a total amateur to play it. Imagine how cool it would have been if, after beating the game or something, you could replay any stage using any outfit. And every stage had a tongue in cheak redesign for each costume, trying to incorporate the different playstyles each outfit would bring. Like how, on a fighting stage, every enemy is scrambling to handle a mermaid peach rhythm game. Now that would be a hell of a game, eh?
