Knowing as I know the Hannoverians family dinamics, the 18th Century Diana Spencer dodged a massive bullet. She dodged it so hard that the bullet kept flying for 200 hundred years and hit someone else down her family.

Thank you for calling Kate by her full name Catherine and for signing Camilla with her correct surname Shand. Most people called her Parker Bowles even after her marriage to Charles, while that is the surname of her first husband whom she divorced a long time ago. Some people keep their former spouses surname when they divorce, so they still share a name with any children they have together, until the woman remarries and takes chooses to take her new husband's surname or keep her former current one. A woman is not required to revert to her maiden name, nor should she be referred to by it unless she reverts to it when the divorce is granted.

Gwenllian, daughter of Llywelyn, actually was acknowledged as Princess of Wales. When Edward I wrote to the Pope to ask for more money for the convent where she was imprisoned, he pointed out that "herein is kept the Princess of Wales, whom we have to maintain." Just a hint on Welsh pronunciation. One f is pronounced like an English v, and two ffs like English f. Although most of us Welsh resent the imposition of the first Prince of Wales in medieval times, most of us nowadays are very supportive of the current Prince and Princess. I have a cherished memory dating from a month or two after they married, when William was working as a search and rescue pilot in Anglesey, Wales. I went to do a food shop in our local Tesco’s supermarket in Holyhead and was completely amazed to pass Catherine in one of the aisles doing her own shop. She was obviously trying to keep her life as ‘normal’ as possible, at least for a few more months.

Well, its still being discussed and debated whether or not it was Mary or Catherine. I think it was most likely Catherine of Aragon, because the other portraits of Mary Tudor, Queen of France Duchess of Suffolk show her with darker hair and a pointed nose as opposed to the reddish gold and more rounded nose of Catherine of Aragon. We'll most likely never know for sure...It certainly makes for interesting conversation and lively debate

@@laurenclear2453 She was heir presumptive because had her father been alive and her parents had more children or any of her uncles, namely a boy, he would've leapfrogged over her. Out of respect for Diana and also out of respect for public opinion on being known (in the public arena) as PoW she became most closely associated with Prince Charles's second highest-ranking subsidiary title which was 'Duke/Duchess of Cornwall' whilst in Scotland that next-highest title was 'Duke/Duchess of Rothesay'. Was Ludlow in Wales at the time of Arthur and Katherine? It was part of the Welsh Marches, and the Tudor administrative headquarters for Wales, but after the 8th century was part of West Mercia.

Ludlow was technically in England at the time but the Marcher Lords had considerable power in the borderlands and in parts of what is now Wales. Henry VIII later stripped them of these powers and fixed the border between England and Wales though the status of Monmouthshire was not settled until 1974.

@@sarahudson108 'Queen consort' is a new title. I think King Charles's mother suggested it as a way to show her support for him, and also because a lot of people might have trouble getting their heads round the idea of a queen not being a reigning one. In Henry VIII'S time, it was understood that a king's wife was a Queen. Even in the 20th Century, the wives of the kings did not have the word 'consort' in their title.

@@MsGberghthis is absolutely insane to believe....kinds wives are queens, their official title is always queen consort, a queen ruling in her own right like queen Elizabeth is called queen regnant. Every single woman who was married to the king is his queen consort. Camilla has exactly the same title as the rest of them. This confusion comes from someone saying camilal would be princess consort instead of queen consort years ago to shut the public up who were upset she would be the queen consort one day, but the queen said no to that and declared camilla would be called the same thing as every other wife of a king in history, queen consort, simplified to just "Queen".

Neither title is correct. To use prince or princess before their names they must be born within royal family. Those who marry into family must be granted right to use prince or princess before their own names and the queen never granted that right to anyone who married her children or grandchildren and charles has not granted that right either. He hasnt even given Henry’s kids that right yet even though they are now entitled to it. They should only ever be refered to as Diana, princess of wales or Catherine, Princess of wales. Its amazing how many people who claim to love both these women but do not respect the fact they cannot use princess before their names and continue to refer to them this way just because the lazy media do
