Her name is Quinta Brunson. So proud of her. She actually is the showrunner and writer too.

Showrunner, writer, executive producer, actor and creator of her own show. So proud of how far she has come. Like from Buzzfeed/the internet to having her own show and winning an Emmy! Also the reason the incredible Sheryl Lee Ralph got her first Emmy nom and win (LOOOOOONG overdue)...Quinta is it!

@@chimcham6762 So true. I love it. Also I love me some Sheryl Lee Ralph. Sad that Jimmy stole Quinta's shine during her First Emmy award. There is always someone trying to steal your light, especially in Hollywood. Your first and last moments can be so memorable and special. She actually also did a TEDx Talks called "I Like Myself, America and You Can't Stop Me"

HAPPY FRIDAY & I RETIRED FROM EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION after 45 ADVENTUROUS years on 12/30/22!!!!! Our profession is SINCERELY A LABOR OF L❤VE because the pay hasn't increased very much but the work load has..... BLESSINGS TO ALL & what field are you in now?
@MarnieGolde7 Жыл бұрын
@@getgot3461 For me, it was a very unique predicament. I moved to Colorado which is one of the very few states that allows anyone to open and operate a “school”. You can literally operate a “school” here under an LLC business. I was hired as a special educator for a school targeting children with dyslexia. The interview went fine and I was told it was a Charter school. But public-contract schools in Colorado operate outside of any state or federal oversight. It wasn’t until I began that I realized the mess I was in. I was the *only* sped teacher in charge of a caseload over 100. I had just moved from Texas where it is not legal for a sped teacher to have over around 30. I had no teacher aides. I was responsible for writing IEPs, conducting IEP meetings (in classrooms separated by curtains to take advantage of small space), and also providing services. It was not doable. Students were not getting the services they were legally and ethically required to receive. I spent the year sending email after email to the BOCES our school operated under. I made it clear services were not being met. I was promised that another sped teacher would be hired the following year. That never happened. I tried to stick it out for the kids but my final straw was when our “principal” (who was at the same time getting a degree in admin…) called me to ask me to essentially lie to a parent about the services their child was receiving. After that I decided they didn’t even deserve a two weeks notice and I quit immediately. It was really emotionally damaging for me. If I wasn’t living in Colorado I might teach again. I enjoyed all other placements and loved the work I was doing-even during the tough moments. But I did not want to work for such a scummy, unethical place. I should’ve realized something was up when the contract I signed contained a “whistleblower” page. But, alas…

This show is on its 2nd season on ABC. The Short teacher (Quinta Brunson) is the writer , creator and Exec, Producer. She is a longtime comic , who's done a lot. Before she landed this amazing opportunity on ABC, she was a cast member of HBO'S, A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW, starring Robin Thede. You may recognize the other teacher (Sheryl Lee Ralph) played the role of Dee, On the 90s hit show Moesha. She was Moesha's stepmom.
