You should do a video on the use of 'Aql (logical and dialectical reasoning) in Shi'i and Mu'tazili thought as part of this series.

Al-Qurtubi Vol 1 Page 659/660 talks about how classical scholar differ on Q2:256. In summary some say it was abrogated because Muhammad forced the pagan Arabs into Islam (Q9:5) and others say it was not abrogated as it only applied to the "people of the book" who had the option to pay Jizyah (Q9:29) and that it was only the pagan Arabs were forced, so this claim that the Quran "very clear" that there is "no compulsion in religion" is nonsense, if some pagan Arabs were to re-emerge they would have the option , embrace Islam or die! I'm pretty sure Shabir would have read Al-Qurtubi.

+Jay Mathews Where have I said Islam is peaceful ? What is it about my comment that makes you think I believe that and need a list of verses from the Quran?

Salaam Dr. Ally I have a question about the importance of the Sunah. According to the Prophet (saw) it is okay to marry ones maternal cousin. However, in the Qur'an, Allah forbids anything that would harm others. It is scientific fact that if cousins get married and produce offspring, the offspring is at an extreme risk of genetic disorder. This would mean it causes harm to the offspring. So my question boils down to, which should we put more focus on, the word of God (Qur'an) or the traditions of the Prophet saw (Sunah)?

But the Holy Qur'an claims to be a perfect book? This video didn't help me understand this point. I'm sorry but can someone help me understand this principle??

paul brill I mean, I don't see how this is a contradiction.
@paulbrill36686 жыл бұрын
Hatem Elsharidy I don't believe that's a contradiction. I guess my view would be the Qur'an over the Sunnah. But I also love the Sunnah and view it as a very important book, like the authentic hadiths. You know? I don't think of this as a contradiction, I just feel confused by the Sunnah over the Qur'an statement..
@helsharidy1236 жыл бұрын
paul brill Well, consider this. What if there was no sunnah? We had no historical context to anything in the Qur'an. What now? The Quran could then be interpreted to mean anything you want it to mean. With the sunnah, you cannot do that anymore because you're restricted to the interpretations of the prophet, peace be upon him and his companions and the following generation, then the generation after that. Make sense?

Hatem Elsharidy that does help, thank you. I'm definitely going to research this topic some more. Thank you brother, peace.

Salam, I think there should be a balance. You brought the evidence of "if someone apostates kill him" as an example from the Hadith where it seems to contradict the Quran, but the same goes for the Quran where it permits hitting your wife and then you learn in the Hadith that the best man is the one best to his wives and how hitting is not supposed to even cause pain. Like I said, there needs to be a balance. I don't think the Hadith of killing the one who apostates is fabricated, but I also don't think it's so black and white. As all punishments, it is to be judged accordingly by a just judge who will determine whether or not it's necessary in an Islamic governance. W Allahu E3lam..

Hatem Elsharidy but the Arabic translation of "beat" is not the best. It is more of a simble or a sign that you are divorcing her. Like the third and final step for the wife going against Allah and her husband. Not like the English word beat or strike. I believe that is the truth, if not I love to learn. Peace

Quran 6, 38 There is no terrestrial creature ( that crawls ) in the earth nor a bird that flies with it's two wings but ( they are ) creatures like you, ( all subject to the Divine Laws ). We have neglected nothing in this prefect Book ( of Law ). Then to their Lord shall they all be gathered.

Here is where Muslims are going wrong, the Quranic verses should NOT be translated using the Sunna of the prophet derived from Hadith. This is an insult to Gods word. The Hadith are Not the words of the prophet, they are a collection of gossip about the prophet passed down for centuries before being collected. If the Quran is translated using Classical Arabic and within the context of each verse, the Quran can be understood without outside influence. Now I know people are gonna say “well how do you pray without Hadith?” Well if the Quran doesn’t stipulate that there are five daily ritual prayers that need to be done a certain way, why do Muslims feel that God ordered them to do it. The Hadith were never authorised by God or the Prophet so what Muslims are following are words from men like Bhukari and Muslim. All the rituals and laws found outside the Quran are from pagans, Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians of the Middle East. The Quran is Gods revelation to humanity, if translated correctly you will not find meaningless rituals and useless restrictions on people’s daily lives. It is a guidance to people to form a society based on justice, charity and doing good like looking after orphans and the needy. Words like Salat, zakat, hajj, and sawm have all been mistranslated so that they fit with what the Hadith say is part of Islam. Islam has now become the religion of Hadith Not the religion of the Quran. Just like in the Quran the prophet will say that “Muslims will abandon this Quran.” We need to go back to following God Alone through Quran alone. May God guide us all. Peace
