Print Sample Unboxing from Print Ninja, Mixam and Kablam

Publishing time is drawing near at Pen & Caper which means it's time to start looking at some print samples for our book. On this episode we unbox, or more accurately unpouch, print samples from Kablam, Mixam and Print Ninja.
Kablam prints comic books and can handle single print orders and very low quantities. I use them for promotional and marketing pieces.
Mixam is a more traditional printer with a very good online quote generator and decent prices on the ol' price/quality scale.
Print Ninja can produce a ton of different format books including graphic novels, comic book, board books and other children's book formats. We got the deluxe print sample package from them which contains specialized items for your planned production.

I got everything you vot in your Mixam sample pack PLUS a comic book. It was really great and led me to print my comics and magazines with them

Been using Ka-Blam for better part of a decade, but due to recent price increases I started looking at Mixam. PrintNinja quality is great, but it's only at "scale" compared to Mixam/Kablam which offer runs as low as 1/ea (at a higher cost of course) This video is an awesome reference, thanks!

I prefer to use Mixam. I am in the US and they will print your comics here and ship to you. Much faster than print Ninja. It’s easy to order 11x17 art prints from Mixam as well.

Hi I’ve been looking into using Mixam. I’m wanting to start a little art business and need prints of my work to sell. Is mixam genuine for doing art prints ? I’m just cautious as I’ve never used this site before x

Ellie Lodge I like their art prints. Make sure to use the cover paper weight 80 or 100. Lower than that the prints will be easily damaged when traveling.

Wouldn't the $5 print sample from Print Ninja be more comparable to the other two options? Just to make it more fair.

What is an offset printer?

Offset printing is printing a lot of copies at the same time, like hundreds or thousands. Because they print so many at once, the cost per unit goes down. The opposite is Print on Demand. Print on Demand printers like Ka-blam are good if you need less than a hundred, but if you print more than a hundred, it becomes expensive because the cost per unit is high.

What would you use for cheaper purchase & also not buying in bulk at all? Like 5-10 cheapest yet still durable print quality for magazines that I would create myself as for content
